Arkin

The conversation Arkin had with Zeke last night got him thinking so hard that he could almost not sleep. In the past years, they never really had a conversation. They knew each other from being the top students in the school but they never did have any interaction aside from walking past by each other for last years in highschool. And being able to talk to each other in the most unexpected way is just unbelievable.

The next morning, everything went normal again. He goes to school, enters his classes and everyone gets back ignoring him again. Which is no new to him anymore. It felt like nothing crazy has happened to him these past few days and didn't get enough sleep from last night.

For someone who has felt invisible to many, Arkin learned how to mind his business without caring about what others think about him. It was something he established to himself throughout the years his life revolves in almost the same things every single day.

As he walk to his next class, he paused just before he could walk past by a room. He looked through the window and started to scan the area, and when he saw no one's inside he pushed the door open and began to look around each corner of the room.

It wasn't the first time he have sneak into this room but everytime felt different as he would look at everything the room that's filled with art work. Drawings, sketches, painting and all sort of arts could be seen in every corner of the room which brings a whole different feeling ever single time he would come and look at each of them.

He trailed his fingers along the edge of a wooden table, his eyes absorbing the new artwork since his last visit. Each piece told a story, but before he could get lost in them, a voice cut through the silence.

"What are you doing?"

Arkin turned sharply to see Kevin standing near the door, a knowing smirk on his face. "Sneaking in again, huh?"

Among everyone, Kevin's like the only person who would talk and approach him in a normal basis. He would appear in almost everywhere out of nowhere but it was just today he have seen him for about a week now.

"Is that from the other day?" Kevin gestured toward the fading bruises on Arkin's face. making Arkin look away.

The cut on his lip was minor compared to the deeper bruises he carried from another night—one he had no intention of discussing.

"I get it somewhere else." He replied without looking his way but he could feel him still staring at him.

Kevin didn't look convinced. "Aren't you gonna do something about it? You know nothing will change if you just let them get away with it."

Arkin still keep his eyes to the painting but not like he could still concentrate after what Kevin said.

"What do you want me to do then?"

Kevin stood from his chair and walk up in front of him and said, "Fight them."

A snigger flashed on the corner of Arkin's lips. "Why don't you tell it to yourself?" Kevin was taken aback as they exchange glances to each other. "Just like me, you're nobody to anyone. So you can't be telling me to do things you can't do yourself."

A moment of silence followed as their eyes remain looking at each other.

"You're may be right. But we're not the same Arkin. We're completely different. It's just a matter of fact that we both can't stand for ourselves." Kevin told him and Arkin didn't bother responding.
