Zeke
Mrs. Hemsley sent a smile to his way after the conversation they had. Zeke just nod his head before he finally get outside the room. He was expecting Mrs. Hemsley would want to talk to him with all the issue that's been spreading around. Although he might have not gave her the answer she needed, Zeke felt a little lighter having her talk about it.
He had only taken a few steps when he saw Arkin from the other end of the hallways who quickly reached his place.
"Zeke." He looked at him as though he's trying to analyze his state and Zeke remain quiet until their eyes met.
"Don't you have class right now?"
"I do. I just... saw you went here and..." He didn't finish his words when he tap him on his shoulder.
"You better go back to your class now. It's no good if your father had seen you talking to me." His voice were soft when he was saying those words that it didn't quickly sink in his head what Zeke had told him.
When Zeke had made a step past him, Arkin grab his arm and Zeke had turn to him with a smile on etched across his lips.
That moment, Arkin knew he's got questions and so much to say but no word just seemed to come out of his mouth. Before he could even keep it together, Zeke had pat him on the head. And without a word, Zeke had made his way off, leaving Arkin unable to talk to him.
"That Zeke is something." He hears someone said. Arkin didn't have to think as he knew it was Kevin who is now standing beside him. "I wonder how can he appear infront of people with a smile on his face despite what's happening to him."
"He's the strongest person I've met." He said as he started taking slow steps.
"Is he really?" Kevin asked, making Arkin looked to his way. "As I know, those people who's strong are more likely have the weakest heart."
"I'd like to believe not everyone is like that. I don't think Zeke's that kind of person."
"You seemed to get really attached with him." Kevin spoke but Arkin couldn't think what to respond to that. "You know what? I used to hate him so much. I hate how he could be smart and brave at the same time. I hate how blunt and mysterious he could be. And that's probably why you seemed to get so interested with him."
Kevin just explained the reason that Arkin haven't thought about until this moment. Kevin's right, and he also hates how that made him dragged to what he's at now.
"He's a great son, a really good friend... a precious human being. He may be mysterious, but he's quite predictable sometimes. He's more likely to do make a work done before he could even ask to." Arkin smiled at the end of his sentence. "I just hope you would know how nice Zeke is."
"In to what extent?" Arkin had turn to look at Kevin in the eyes as he thought about his question.
"That he could sacrifice and do anything for his love onse." He said as he exchange glances with him when a thought suddenly sink in his head. Something he haven't thought until this point.
In the following days, Arkin would always catch sight of Zeke around the campus. He's been smiling and hanging out with his friends a lot more often. Although it might be a good thought that he's doing fine, that's not what Arkin's take on that.
Often times, they would walk past each other and Zeke would managed to smile at him. He wants to think that he's just trying to avoid him because of the agreement he had with his father but that didn't look
He may be smiling but he sees pain in his eyes. He knows Zeke and he knows if he's actually happy and he knows he's not which is just concerning and couldn't help him not get worried about him.
