Zeke

Zeke still had been thinking about last  night. He knew Arkin really had no idea about what they're up to and after what happened he's expecting Arkin would stop showing up after he figured the truth. And for Zeke, it would be very good news.

The next morning he went to school, he notice everyone he walk past by would look his way. And not that there's anything new about it. He's actually used of people looking at him but would normally ignore them.

Just before he reached his classroom, someone bumped into him, and quickly saw it was Richard.

"Congrats dude!" His brow knitted as he looked at him, confused. Which Richard had quickly noticed. "C'mon, haven't you seen the result?"

"What result?" Just when Richard was about to respond, they saw students hurrying to the bulletin board. And the next thing he knew, Richard was yanking him to the bulletin.

"Excuse me, excuse me." He try to shove the people away as they make their way infront.

That was the only time he realize it's the result of the last exam. And what surprised  him was when he saw his name on the first spot followed by Arkin who's in the second spot.

Zeke was above surprised from what he's looking right now. He couldn't think of of what to say nor what what to feel. In the past few years, Zeke would always get the second highest grade among everyone and Arkin getting the first spot that's why it's hard to believe he really did get the first spot.

"Man, you really did beat up that Arkin." Richard shake his shoulders but Zeke shake his head and turn as he began to walk away. "Hey, aren't you happy about the result? You're doing even better huh."

"There must've been some mistakes."

"What mistake? There is no mistake. I'm sure they did some checking before actually posting it into public." He might be right but that doesn't make him feel any better.

"C'mon, just be glad you've got the highest grade. You see, you've topped that Arkin."

"I didn't top anyone." He quickly interjected as he continued on his way to his room. "My grades didn't went higher than my usual, it remains the same. Arkin only got some few points lower than me. "

"And so? How is that different?" Richard asked but Zeke didn't respond. "Just be glad about it. Not only that you've topped that Arkin but also because you can guarantee you're a hundred percent scholar again. I think we'll be needing a tutor from you."

Zeke remain silent as they walk to their class. He's glad to know that he's not gonna loose his scholar, but what bothers him is the fact that Arkin got the second spot and he can't be more confused why.

.

"Arkin, I assume you know the reason why I wanted to talk to you today."

"I actually don't." Mrs. Hemsley was quite taken aback at what Arkin had responded to him. And Arkin wasn't really in the mood to show up in the nicest way he could muster.

"It's about your grades." Arkin leaned back against his seat with a heavy sigh escaped past his lips.

"I don't have questions about it." He spoke without showing interest on the the conversation at hand. And which makes Mrs. Hemsley confused than she's been already.

"Well, you can still ask me anything about your grade. I can explain how your grades went down from the previous scores you got." Arkin was trying hard to refrain himself from rolling his eyes as he waits until he could get over this conversation's. "You see, for the past years, you've always got the highest grade among everyone. And I know you're surprised as everyone is."
