As she was about to leave, Augustus appeared at the distant. His breath reeked of alcohol and his eyes were bloodshot. Samantha's heart sank as she saw him.

"So now you're leaving?" Augustus slurred, his words barely coherent.

Samantha nodded, clutching her bag tightly. She didn't want to stay a minute longer with him.

Augustus walked closer to her, his eyes fixed on her. "So you're really standing on the lies you told me, huh?"

Samantha's heart raced as she remembered the pregnancy test and the brutal way he had treated her. "I'm not lying," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Augustus let out a bitter laugh. "You expect me to believe that? You expect me to believe that you're pregnant with my child?" His voice was full of disdain.

Samantha's eyes met his. "I am pregnant with your child," she said, the conviction in her voice surprising even her.

Augustus shook his head, the alcohol making him unsteady. "You're just trying to trap me. You're trying to keep me here with you forever."

Samantha knew there was no point in arguing with him. She just had to leave. "I'm leaving now," she said, trying to walk past him.

But Augustus grabbed her by the arm, his grip so tight it hurt. "You're not going anywhere," he said, his eyes glinting with anger.

Samantha's heart raced as she struggled to get away from him. But Augustus was too strong. He pulled her closer, his face inches away from hers.

"You're mine, Samantha. You can't just leave me like this. You're carrying my child," he said, his breath hot on her face.

Samantha's eyes filled with tears as she realized that there was no way she could reason with him. She had to escape. She kicked him in the shin with all her might, making him let go of her.

She didn't waste any time and ran towards the door, her bag clutched tightly in her hand. She could hear Augustus cursing behind her, but she didn't look back.

As she stepped out of the house, she felt the cold air hitting her face. For the first time in a long time, she felt free. She didn't know what the future held for her, but she knew one thing for sure- she would do everything in her power to keep her baby safe.

Samantha stumbled back from the force of Augustus' punches, her hands cradling her stomach. She could feel the pain radiating through her body, the same pain she had felt when Augustus had first attacked her. She didn't understand how he could do this to her, to their child.

"Please..." she begged, trying to catch her breath. "Please, Augustus, just let me go. Let me and the baby go. We don't need you."

Augustus just laughed at her. "You really think you can survive on your own? You're nothing without me, Samantha. You're just a stupid, worthless woman."

With a deep breath, Samantha gathered her strength and turned to leave. But Augustus grabbed her arm, his grip so tight that she winced in pain.

"Go ahead," he sneered. "Leave! But don't you dare come back and beg for me to accept you again. You made your choice, Samantha. You chose to lie to me, to betray me."

Samantha knew then that there was no reasoning with him, no way to make him believe the truth. She turned and ran out the door, her bag clutched tightly to her chest. She could hear Augustus yelling after her, his words harsh and cruel.

As she stumbled down the street, tears streaming down her face, Samantha realized that she had nowhere to go, no one to turn to. She was alone, with just her baby and a bag full of money. But she had to keep going, had to find a way to survive for the sake of her child.

With a deep breath, she wiped her tears and set her jaw. "I can do this," she whispered to herself. "I have to do this, for my baby."
