When Brylle was already asleep, Samantha thought that Bryan would leave. But he didn't. In fact, he stayed and said that he needed to say something really important to Samantha.
Bryan took Samantha's hand and looked into her eyes, "Samantha, I need to tell you something... something that I've been keeping to myself for a long time," he said, with a nervousness in his voice.
Samantha looked back at him, waiting for him to speak.
"I love spending time with you," he began, "I enjoyed taking care of Brylle, and you're important to me. You matter the most, Samantha."
Samantha's heart skipped a beat at his words, but she remained quiet, waiting for him to continue.
"And I can't live without the two of you in my life," he said, his voice cracking with emotion. "Samantha, I love you... so much."
Samantha was taken aback by his confession, but at the same time, a warmth spread through her body. She had always felt a connection with Bryan, but she never imagined that he could feel the same way.
"Bryan..." she began, searching for the right words to say.
"I know it's sudden, Samantha," he interrupted, "but I just couldn't keep it inside any longer. I know you're married, and I respect that, but I just had to let you know how I feel."
Samantha's heart was torn. She was still married to Augustus, but she couldn't deny the feelings she had for Bryan. She had always felt safe and protected around him, and she knew that he would never hurt her the way Augustus did.
"I know you're still married but I can wait. I can wait forever Samantha. I am not expecting an answer right now, I just wanted to let you know what I feel. It's just so hard not to fall in love to a woman like you..." He said with sincerity in his voice.
Samantha was surprised but she also felt flattered. She knew that Bryan had always been special to her and hearing his confession made her heart skip a beat.
"I don't know what to say, Bry. I am still married and I don't know what the future holds for me. But thank you for being honest with me." She replied, trying to hide the mixed emotions she was feeling inside.
Bryan smiled understandingly. "I am not asking for anything in return, Sam. I just wanted you to know how I feel. And if there's a chance in the future, I'll be here waiting for you."
Samantha felt overwhelmed with emotions as she held Bryan's hands tightly. Tears streamed down her face as she admitted to him that she had feelings for him too, but she needed more time. She needed time to heal from the trauma she had been through, time to gather the strength to divorce Augustus and face the consequences of leaving him.
"I'm not ready yet, Bryan," Samantha said softly. "I need to fix myself first, and I need time to do that. But I want you to know that you mean so much to me. You're the only one who has been there for me, the only one who has shown me kindness and compassion in this cruel world."
Bryan gazed at Samantha with a reassuring smile, his hand gently resting on her shoulder. "I promise that when that time came... I will still be here," he said, his voice unwavering and sincere.
Samantha's eyes welled up with tears as she leaned into his embrace, feeling the warmth of his body against hers. She had never felt so safe and secure before. It was as if all her worries had vanished in that one moment.
