Samantha was sitting on the couch in the living room, scrolling through her phone absentmindedly. As she was scrolling through her social media feeds, a news article caught her eye. The article was about Augustus' company and its current situation.
Out of curiosity, she opened the article and began to read it. As she read further, her heart sank with each passing line. The article reported that Augustus' company was facing financial difficulties, and that investors were pulling out. The man himself was struggling with addiction and was no longer able to manage his company effectively.
Samantha's hands trembled as she read the article. She knew that Augustus was facing problems, but she had no idea that it was this bad. A tear fell from her eyes as she closed her phone.
"When will you change, Augustus?" she muttered to herself. She had hoped that he would eventually see the error of his ways and change, but it seemed like he was spiraling further out of control. She couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness for him, even though he had hurt her in so many ways.
Samantha tried to compose herself and wipe away her tears as she heard footsteps approaching. She turned around to see Bryan walking towards her, concern etched on his face.
"Are you crying?" he asked, his voice soft and gentle.
Samantha shook her head, trying to hide her tears. But it was no use. Bryan was too perceptive to be fooled.
"Please, Samantha," he said, reaching out a hand to gently wipe away her tears. "You can tell me anything. I'm here for you."
Samantha took a deep breath and finally gave in. She told him everything that had happened with Augustus - the physical and emotional abuse, the affair, and now, the fact that he was involved in some dangerous and illegal activities.
Bryan listened intently as she spoke, his expression shifting from concern to anger as he heard the details of Augustus' abusive behavior. "Don't you think he deserved it?" he asked. "He did it to himself. It was his own choice after all."
Samantha took a deep breath, considering Bryan's words. "You're right," she said, her voice heavy with the weight of her thoughts. "Actually, I've been thinking of a divorce. I want to be free from him, permanently."
Bryan nodded, a sense of relief washing over him. "I'm glad to hear that, Sam. You deserve to be happy, to live a life free from fear and pain."
