Augustus sat in his leather chair, drumming his fingers on the mahogany desk in front of him as his secretary, Sara, delivered the bad news. "What do you mean they've backed out?" he growled, his eyes narrowed in anger.
Sara fidgeted nervously with the papers in her hand. "I'm sorry, sir. It seems that they've lost faith in our company's ability to turn things around. They're pulling out their investments."
Augustus let out a string of curses, slamming his hand on the desk. "This is unacceptable. We need to fix this. Get me the latest financial reports and set up a meeting with the board of directors. We need to come up with a plan to turn this company around."
Sara extended her resignation paper.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Augustus," his secretary replied with a trembling voice. "I can't take it anymore. I can't handle how you treat everyone in this office. You're a monster."
Augustus scoffed, crumpling the resignation letter in his hand. "Is that so? And where do you think you're gonna find a job like this? You're just a secretary, you're replaceable."
"I don't care," his secretary said firmly. "I'd rather live in poverty than work for someone like you."
Augustus glared at her, his eyes blazing with anger. "You think you're so high and mighty? You're nothing without me. You'll regret this, mark my words."
Augustus leaned back on his chair, his mind racing with frustration and anger. He knew deep down that his secretary was right, but he refused to admit it. He was so used to getting his way, to lording his power over everyone else.
"I'll find someone else to replace you," he said finally, his voice cold. "Someone who knows their place."
Augustus stood in the middle of the office, his fists clenched tightly by his side as he surveyed the destruction around him.
Broken glass littered the floor and furniture was overturned, a testament to his anger and frustration. He took a deep breath and tried to calm himself, but the memory of his fight with Samantha was still fresh in his mind.
His eyes wandered around the office until they landed on a shattered picture frame lying on the floor. He recognized it immediately as their wedding photo. He hated that picture, but he couldn't help but feel a twinge of pain in his chest at the sight of it.
Augustus reached down and picked up the broken frame, studying the image of him and Samantha in their wedding clothes. It was a beautiful photo, but it meant nothing to him now. He had destroyed everything that they had built together with his own two hands.
He closed his eyes and let out a deep sigh, trying to block out the memories of the past few days. He knew he had gone too far with Samantha this time, but he couldn't help his anger and jealousy from consuming him.
