Chapter 10

Victoria climbed out of her bed later than usual, she didn't have anything to do with Tony today. Today was the day she was supposed to fight Bucky, she was nervous but excited. She made her way to the bathroom, quickly getting ready for the day in her usual work attire but packing her workout clothes in her bag. When she made her way out of the bedroom Noah was sprawled out on the couch, as usual.

"You're late." Noah pointed out when he noticed the time. Victoria playfully rolled her eyes and headed to the fridge, grabbing a water and the breakfast she had prepped the night before. She had made an English muffin sandwich with egg whites, white cheddar and Canadian bacon. She threw the whole thing in the airfryer while she sat down on the couch for a minute.

"Today is a late day. I don't know what time I'll get off." She answered.

"Text me if you're not coming home." Noah requested, Victoria nodded and smiled over at him. "I promise." She said.

"Is it a mission?" He asked.

"Nah, training. Like a mock mission, I guess. I still have to run comms as if it's real though." She lied. The airfryer dinged that it was done, Victoria hopping up and fetching her breakfast. She wrapped her sandwich in a paper towel and leaned over to get a kiss from Noah.

"I love you." She said as their lips lingered together. Noah licked her lips, making her pull back and wipe her mouth off. "Gross, dude." She said with an eye roll and a laugh. She hated when he licked her or bit her face like an untrained puppy.

"Love you." He replied with a cocky grin. Victoria headed out the door after that, nervous to get her fight over with.

When Victoria reached the compound she had just finished her breakfast, she pulled into her spot and headed inside. She wasn't sure where they wanted her so she just headed for the common room, seeing Steve waiting for her.

"Please don't tell me this is a whole team thing.." Victoria pleaded, she didn't like having an audience.

"Nah, just the four of us." Steve reassured her.

"Four?" Victoria asked.

"Peter, Buck and you and I." Steve answered. Victoria sighed nervously but nodded. She headed into the closest bathroom to get dressed, throwing on a pair of Nike workout leggings and a matching pink and black sports bra. She also threw on her high top converses and pulled her hair into a messy bun before coming back out to meet up with the guys. All three of them were standing there waiting on her. Steve had his shield in hand as well as a couple of knives, Bucky had his blue and black suit on as if he was heading out to a mission. She couldn't help but admire his suit, dark blue and black leather, the left sleeve missing to reveal his black and gold arm. Knives and guns throughout his suit. She gulped nervously at the weapons, but remembered it was supposed to be realistic.

"Rubber bullets, they won't even pierce unless he's close." Steve reassured her. "But you have the shield, you'll be fine." He added.

Victoria nodded nervously, forcing a smile. "Where are we going?" She asked. Steve shrugged sarcastically and gave her a grin as he led her to his car. The four drove until the reached a closed off bridge, several cars scattered around. The entire bridge and the road underneath the bridge had been closed off.

"This is all for us?" She asked nervously.

"Nah, the roads were already closed, years ago, the cars were abandoned here." Steve reassured her. The more she looked at everything, she could tell it was abandoned, the road had rough cracks, filled with grass growing through them. All the cars had thick layers of dust and pollen on them, they looked like they'd been sitting for years. The bridge itself looked unsteady, she looked down at the road under them seeing it was in the same condition. She quickly studied the area, there was a truck at the end of the bridge if she needed to jump onto the road underneath.
