Chapter 22

"How the hell could you let them get you?" Tony said sternly as Victoria threw on a clean outfit to go home in. But she wasn't going home, Tony insisted she stayed at the compound for a few days, just until they knew she was okay and they found out who these men were that was working with Walker. "Bunny you scared the shit out of me!" Tony yelled.

"Tony. You know what they could've found if they got into everything. They'd know who Peter was, they'd have access to control the suits, they'd have EDITH, weapons, your money...everything. It's way more than just secrets." Victoria argued.

"Bunny, I could've shut the weapons down. I could've killed anyone that knew who the kid was, I don't give a shit about the money! I can't replace you." Tony said with a sigh, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Why didn't you tell me about the serum?" He asked.

"I don't know. I didn't tell anyone." Victoria said with a sigh. She flopped down on the hospital bed, staring up at Tony as he stood in front of her. "I wasn't exactly happy about it when I found out." She admitted.

"I'm glad he did it, I wouldn't have wanted to lose you so soon." Tony admitted. He moved over to Victoria, pulling her into a hug. "But you know he gave you more, right?" He asked.

"I know, Tony." Victoria said with a sigh. But she didn't know what else to say, she was mad when she found out she would've died without Steve's blood the first time. She wanted to die, she didn't want to live in a world where she knew she was the one responsible for Sarah's death. She didn't want to live without Sarah. But she moved past that feeling. She didn't even know what to say now, she didn't even know if more of his blood would effect her since she'd already bonded with the serum once.

"Let's get you back. Do you want a room for yourself or do you want to stay with someone from the team?" Tony asked.

"She's with me." Steve insisted as he stood in the doorway. "It's my fault they came after you, I'd prefer if you stayed with me."

"Perfect, at least I'll know you're safe with spangles in the next room." Tony said, finally breaking the hug and walking out the door.

Steve walked over to Victoria and held her face in his hands, his thumbs stroking her cheeks. "I'm so glad you're okay. I'm so sorry this was my fault." He said with a defeated sigh.

"No, it wasn't. I get it, you didn't want to lose the both of us that day. I'm glad you saved me." Victoria promised. She stood up and wrapped her arms around Steve's torso, laying her face on his chest.

"I couldn't lose you. The only reason I didn't storm into the compound and get you myself was because Buck held me back." Steve admitted with a sigh. "Now I wish I had, what did they do to you?" He asked. He laid his head on top of Victoria's, wrapping his arms tightly around her.

"They took my blood, that's it. He said he wants the shield." Victoria explained. "We don't even know what they'd do to you two if they got ahold of you." Victoria said, she shifted to stare up at him.

"We can take it. You're the one I was worried about. I can't even think about you dealing with a fraction of the shit Buck went through. I won't let that happen." Steve promised. He sighed and rested his forehead against hers.

"You shouldn't have to. Bucky's already been through enough and you, you haven't had a day of peace since you got the serum." Victoria said hesitantly. She moved one hand from around Steve, holding onto his face.

"You wanted them to take you if it meant they didn't get to us, didn't you?" Steve asked. Victoria shook her head, closing her eyes and letting out a small sigh. "No, I didn't want them to get me. But if it came to one of us, I'm the obvious choice." She defended.
