Jennifer's P.O.V

I had been feeling much better. The morning sickness didn't surprise me so often anymore, and I felt so alive. I knew it was temporary, but I was happy to be back in action, training and rehearsing with twice as much energy.

Days before, we had been talking about the perfect moment to tell our families, but we knew that such moment would never come, and time was flying, we had to tell them if we didn't want the world to know before them.

I hadn't seen his family in a decade and viceversa. Now, we were waiting for them. We had planned a reunion to let everybody know at the same time, see their faces, their reactions. My mom was the only one who knew, and yet, she didn't know the purpose of the party. They had all been invited under the excuse of a family reunion to make our relationship official. It was risky bringing both families together for the first time in a decade. We didn't know how they felt about us after so long.

Despite the size change, I managed to find a cute floral dress in my wardrobe, one I had been saving for a party in the backyard like the one we were hosting. I also donned a pair of cute pink stiletto sandals that matched perfectly. Ben's jaw dropped when he saw me walking out, but that was something he always did when I wore a dress. He knew how to make me feel beautiful with so little. He stretched his arm to grab my hand, and made me spin for a complete look. Pulling me slightly, he made me glide across the grass to end up in his embrace. With his arms surrounding my waist and my hands on his neck, we swayed slowly. Body to body, we danced with bare souls and without music.

The guests started to arrive, and we got ready for the exciting moment. My parents, my sisters, his brother, his mother. When I saw her, I realized how much I had missed her. We used to meet to chat, and she would show me pictures of Ben when he was a baby. We talked about the grandchildren we'd give her and how she'd be so happy if they looked like me. Seeing her brought back a lot of memories.

"Jennifer, my dear." She said opening her arms to embrace me. "You have no idea how happy I was when Ben told me you were back together. Surprised too." She giggled.

"I was surprised myself, but I couldn't be happier." I said as we held hands.

"And you look amazing, that's a beautiful dress. Good choice, as always." She said looking at me as I tried my best to suck it in and hide the slight curve that began to show under the tight dress. "I'm sure my son loved it."

"He did." We laughed.

I couldn't have asked for a better reaction. It was beautiful, a moment I would definitely remember. We hugged, laughed, and almost cried. But the emotional moment didn't last long.

That morning, we had had help to cook for all our guests, and as always, I had been very straight with the food I didn't like, but that didn't mean they couldn't make that food for everyone else. It wasn't until someone walked past me with the first dish that I realized. I smelled it and I got nauseous instantly.

"Was that salmon?" I asked.

And those were the last words I could say before running to the nearest bathroom to avoid throwing up on the grass in front of everybody.

Ben's P.O.V

I saw Jennifer running inside, but I was too far to reach her before she left. I noticed my mother looked confused when I approached, as confused as I was.

"What was that?" I asked.

"I think it was the salmon. I knew she didn't like it, but she felt really sick when she saw it. She must hate it." She told me.

I couldn't tell her. I still had to keep the secret a little longer. It was hard. It felt like it was going to slip out of my mouth at any moment.

"Go check on her. I'll go chat with Jen's mom. We have a lot to talk about." She said.

"No!" I said startled.

Jennifer's mom knew about the pregnancy, and my mom was an expert at getting information. I couldn't let that happen.

"No?" She asked.

"No... because Jennifer's sister, Lynda... wanted to see you." I said saving the situation.

"Oh, okay. Make sure Jennifer's fine." She said before walking away from me. I sighed in relief.

Jennifer's P.O.V

Ben knocked on the door and walked in. I was in front of the mirror, and my face was slowly recovering its normal color. His hand on my back was comforting, and his look in the mirror was reassuring. I rested my head on his arm and smiled. I was ready to go back to the party.

We had lunch without any other setbacks, and as the sun started to cast its last rays in the garden, we knew it was time. We stood up simultaneously, getting everyone's attention. Ben grabbed my hand, and they smiled expectantly.

"Some of you already guessed that there's another reason for you to be here today, and though we've been asked if we're getting married a few times since you arrived, that is not the reason." Ben explained, making everyone laugh.

"We have very exciting news, and we are beyond happy." I said looking up at him.

"We don't want to make you wait any longer." He said tilting his head to look at me with a broad smile, as I squeezed his hand.

"We're having a baby." I revealed clinging to his arm.

Their faces were everything, their enthusiastic reactions, the way they looked at each other in disbelief. They covered their mouths in surprise or screamed. I even saw someone shedding a few tears. We got a round of hugs and congratulations before giving them more details. It was already safe to say that we had reached the second trimester, and in the best health. After sharing the news, we had a lovely evening. We felt loved and supported beyond expectation. We couldn't have asked for more.
