Jennifer's P.O.V

His face was pale, like all the blood had drained from his body. His expression wasn't hard to read at all. He was shocked, and I didn't want to make it worse. It was awkward, but I gave him time to process the information. It hit him very hard, because he had to end up sitting down after all. I stood in the same spot looking at him, waiting for him to say something.

"Are you sure?" Those were the first words he said after the worst silence imaginable.

I expected that question. That's why I kept the tests close. I just had to open a drawer behind me and take them out. Of course he had no idea what he was looking at, but given the situation, I didn't have to explain that two lines meant a positive result.

"Oh god... you should've..." He never got to finish, but I had heard enough.

"What?... Oh, so now this is all my fault." I said raising my voice slightly in disbelief. "Let me remind you that it takes to people to make a baby. I just wanted to focus on my kids and my career. But you had to appear in my life, returning like nothing had changed, like no time had passed."

"I'm sorry. That's not what I meant." He said standing up.

We weren't far from each other, but still he walked to me. My arms were crossed, and he knew that was something I did when I felt vulnerable. So he approached me and caressed my arm to give me the comfort I needed.

"When did this happen?" He asked not leaving my side.

"Considering how late I am and the last time we... Mmm... I'm around six weeks pregnant." I answered as my eyes moved frantically from a spot to another.

"The Golden Globes." He said.

"The Golden Globes." I repeated.

A shiver ran through my body after a second of silence, and I knew he had felt it because his hold on my arm tightened right away.

"How did we let this situation get this far?" As I asked, he wrapped his arms around me to bring me into his embrace and make me feel protected by his broad torso.

"We'll work this out." He said and left a soft kiss on my head.

"I can't imagine myself pushing a stroller right now." I said resting my head on his chest.

"Did you think about it?" He asked keeping his tone quiet. "Have you made a choice?"

"I have only known today." I answered. "This is all we ever wanted, to have children together. But we're not in a relationship... I don't know what this is, and... you're married."

"Last week I filed for the divorce papers. I haven't told her yet. It was Sam's first birthday, and I figured it wasn't the right moment." He explained.

"Is that information supposed to help me make a choice? It is not official. You could change your mind." I said taking a step back.

"This isn't something I've decided overnight." He said.

"And this is something I shouldn't decide overnight either." I said, not realizing that I was crossing my arms again.

And of course he noticed. He always noticed even the most subtle changes in my body language. He took a step forward to hug me once again, tighter this time.

"Whatever you decide... I'll be there, and I'll support you."
