Jennifer's P.O.V

When I first sank into the soft, inviting cushions of the couch, It felt like I had chosen the perfect spot on which to rest. The quiet of the living room enveloped me. But it only took me a few seconds to start feeling really uncomfortable. As my mind drifted in and out of sleep, I became aware of every little sound around me, especially the rain. I tried to find a comfortable position, but nothing seemed to help.

I glanced at my phone, 5:17 p.m., and sighed. Maybe it had been a mistake trying to rest on the couch, but no, it wasn't that. Something was happening. My heartbeat accelerated instantly at the realization.

"Oh my god... Ben!" I screamed at the top of my lungs.

He ran downstairs at such speed that he found it hard to stop as he reached the living room. I glanced up at him.

"What's wrong?" He asked concerned.

"Nothing's wrong." A smile broke out on my face. "The baby just kicked."

"Really?" His eyes widened and the worried expression on his face disappeared.

"Yeah! Here. Put your hand right here." I said.

He sat on the couch next to me and with the sweetest smile, he placed his hands on my stomach.

"There it is again! Did you feel it?" The joy was evident in my voice.

The fluttering of our unborn child came in small, playful waves. We gazed at each other with excitement.

"Wow..." He remained very focused on feeling the little movements.

As the kicks slowed down and eventually stopped, we looked at each other and shared a smile that was full of anticipation for the future. We knew that baby would bring more moments like that. He looked into my eyes and took my hand. I returned his gaze with a smile. We moved closer to each other, our faces inches apart. As he leaned in slowly, I closed my eyes and tilted my head slightly, anticipating his lips against mine.

Something shifted in his gaze, and I just loved it. I couldn't fight the urge to bite his lower lip. He groaned softly. His hand crept to my waist and his chest pressed against mine. He kissed me repeatedly. I straddled his lap. His arms circled me, gathering me against him. He kissed me gently, carefully, but it wasn't gentleness what I wanted. The next kiss was the kind that breaks open the sky. It stole my breath and gave it back.

Everything went oddly quiet, like the moment between the lightning and the thunder, and suddenly, a little breathing.

"I can't." I sighed.

"What?" He asked confused.

"The dog." I said looking at the puppy.

"He doesn't even know what's happening." He replied amused.

"Oh he does, and he's watching." I said very seriously.

He chuckled and got hold of me to make me fall on my back on the couch. I squealed with laughter in surprise.

As the rain poured outside, Ben and I snuggled under the cozy blanket on the couch, certainly naked. He wrapped his arms around me, pulling me close to him, and I leaned my head back against his chest. His fingers traced circles on my arm as we cuddled. He planted a soft kiss on my forehead. I looked up at him, and our eyes locked in a moment of pure love. I basked in the warmth of his body, and time stood still. It was the simple moments like this that made me realize how lucky I was to have him. Nuzzling into his chest, I felt at peace in his embrace, like nothing could harm me. Eventually, I was able to fall asleep.
