Just like Hell, the cave of the Seven has been even more quiet than normal ever since the demons within it have eaten. Well, not completely quiet – there's a hum in the air, matching the intense atmosphere that the Ayabbi emit many miles away, as if the energy they gained is uncontainable.

You realize that even though it has "only" been around 250 years since the Sins were locked up here and given one soul per year, it made a difference. The first days, all of them seem to be fumbling with their powers, as if they're not used to the strength that is now filling them once again. They were incredibly mighty even before this – now they seem almost overpowered. Every step they take sends a shockwave through the ground, every wave of their hand is at risk of laying the cave to ruins, and when one of them enters a room, the air within it grows unbearably thick and suffocating for a few moments.

Of course, you are no different, and you have an undiscovered power on top of it all. Soon after you have fed, you regularly start to see the glowing crystals in the chests of the Sins and your familiars. Then, the seeing turns into more of a feeling – you can sense them just by passing a person and their chests don't turn translucent anymore. However, you're still unable to make out what they are and what you are supposed to do with them.

Your unwanted ability to hurt people just by touch returns with full force and the. The others assume the recent incidents distracted you enough for the "power", if that's what you can even call it, to fade until now, but after you have consumed your first soul and the war is almost confirmed, there's little to distract you – which means every time Daimon, who is still blind but adjusting to it, rubs around your feet, the pain is so bad he almost collapses. The same goes for the other demons. Yoongi still has to actively stop himself from touching you, and the worst is that noone really knows when your power is active. The only way to find out whether you're safe to touch is error and trial, and more often than not, you hurt the others unintentionally when they try.

The only one who is not affected by it is Jinlong – possibly because he is your destined familiar, or because he is much older than the others. Whatever the reason may be, it causes the two of you to spend much more time together. He is the only one you can safely touch without having to be afraid to cause him unimaginable agony.

Right now, you are sitting atop his body that is curled up in a corner of the cave close to the castle like a huge snake, his giant head resting next to you on his body. You have a book in your lap that Jin gave you – it is a pure white, golden, curved letters spelling the words "Principles of Manipulation". Apparently, Yoongi stole it from a lower angel named Lukarios in his younger years, and it contains the basics of what you until recently called magic – teaching you the essentials about spatial, temporal, biological and mass manipulation.

So, have you made progress?, the dragon asks, awakening from his light slumber and opening one glowing, golden eye to peer down on you. He has been resting a lot ever since he gave you the souls, but he's repeatedly assured you that he is fine and just needs to recover a little from the strain of pushing millenia-old souls out of his body.

"Little", you sigh, turning the page. The language the book is written in is human, but it is old and the meaning of the words difficult to understand.

What do you struggle with?

You scoff. "You mean, what do you not struggle with?"

Your reply elicits a heartfelt laugh from the dragon, making his body tremble beneath you. The sound makes you smile. I understand, he chuckles afterwards. Tell me. Let me help.

Hoping that the dragon will be able to explain the paragraph to you better than the book does, you read it to him in your head:

The manipulation of matter is inherently achieved by an expansion of the manipulator's mind and will to the extent of an invasion of the object of manipulation's inner structures, ultimately enabling the manipulator to change said structure and thus the object's physical attributes.
