Abandonment

The sharp edges of Heishe's glistening scales dig into your inner thighs as you settle on his back, feeling his muscles shift beneath you as he turns his head and watches you and Daimon to make sure both of you are safely on his back.

You grab onto one of his golden back spikes and throw a last glance down. The remaining six Seven look up to you, their expressions wildly different – Taehyung and Hoseok seem determined and confident, while Jungkook's and Namjoon's are rutted with worry and gloom. Jin, on the other hand, tries to smile at you to cheer you up.

Yoongi's expression is the least easy to bear. It is full of longing and sorrow, and your glances intertwine as he stares up to you, clearly pained by your departure.

Your hand twitches as you subdue the urge to extend it to him, to feel his smooth skin one last time before you'll be separated for Lucifer knows how long, but he picks up on it.

For a brief moment, none of you move, then his jaw muscle tenses and before anyone can say anything to break the tension, he bends his knees and pushes himself off the ground.

His scent engulfs you as he lands right next to you on Heishe's back. The dragon and your cat familiar look away as your eyes meet, then he pulls you into a tight hug and buries his face in your hair.

You breathe in as you sling his arms around his neck and nuzzle into the curve between his neck and shoulder, enjoying the brief moment of closeness for as long as you can. Your body aches with the knowledge that you have no other choice but to leave him behind, and with the way his arms tense around you, you know that he is just as aware of it.

After a couple seconds more, Yoongi lets go of you unwillingly and leans back to take in your face and tuck a strand of your hair behind your ear.

"I will miss you endlessly", he whispers quietly as his gaze searches your expression, then he gently cups your face, lifts it towards his and presses a sweet, soft kiss onto your lips that easily wipes every thought from your head.

"Be safe", he mumbles against your lips and then kisses you one last time, lips melting against yours, before he lets go of you fully and slowly stands up. His movements are slow and heavy, as if he's moving under water, and he visibly struggles to avert his gaze from you.

You can feel his body moving away as if it's pulling on strings that are attached to yours, and in a second of weakness, you raise your arm and reach for him to stop him from going.

Yoongi's body stutters as he grows aware of what you're doing, then his fingers find your arm and slowly, gently slide along it as he slowly moves away, ripping himself from you as if he's physically stuck to you. As his fingers reach your wrist, he suddenly halts in his movement and then takes your hand as he turns towards you again.

You watch breathlessly as he lifts your hand to his lips and kisses your knuckles, his gaze fixed on your face the entire time, before he slowly drops it and finally jumps down from Heishe's back, landing on the ground heavily.

Heishe follows his figure with his golden glance. "Fret not", he says, voice rumbling through the entire cave awkwardly loud. "We will take good care of her."

Next to you, Daimon nods his massive head in assent.

"We trust that", Jin shouts, then looks at you and smiles. "Stay safe, Y/N."

"We'll be waiting for you!", Hoseok adds.

"Safe travel, Y/N", Jungkook says and throws you a dazzling smile.

The rest of them say nothing. Namjoon crosses his arms while Taehyung looks away, but you know that they are just as restless and worried as the other Sins.
