The Prospect of War II

Heishe seems impressed as he hovers over the rock you just finished forming into a ball, inspecting it closely.

"That was fine work."

Daimon's tail taps onto the ground as he gets up, slowly finds his way over to you and then sniffs the rock ball, inspecting it with his nose. When he's finished, his whiskers twitch.

Looks very good, he says in your mind.

Heishe's golden gaze lands on you. "See, I told you it wasn't as difficult as Heaven makes it out to be", he says. You can't help a small, proud smile and nod.

"I think once you get the feeling of 'pushing inside' that you describe, it's not all that difficult", you reply. Indeed, it was complicated at first to imagine how you would invade an atomic structure – one that you can't see nor feel. But once you realized you didn't need to guide your power, as it found its own way through the stone like water through a creek, and just needed to supply a steady flow of it that wasn't too strong or too weak, the concept wasn't hard to grasp.

Heishe shifts his head to rest it on his body again. "I knew you'd do well", he says. "Soon, you'll be able to manipulate other matter easily." He closes his eyes, apparently satisfied that he could help.

Daimon turns around and approaches his previous resting spot, but then stops in the middle of his movement. His ears perk up and turn as if he picked up an unexpected sound and is trying to localize it. Next, his head turns in the direction of the cave entrance and he sniffs.

What is it?, you quietly ask in your head.

For a couple of moments, the panther is silent – you can feel his hesitation and confusion. Finally, he speaks up.

Jimin is here.

His words feel like a trickle of icy cold water running down your back. You get up immediately; Heishe opens his eyes and lifts his head again. His mouth opens, teeth showing as he tastes the air with his long, split tongue.

He is right, he growls. Hold on, you two.

His body slowly unfurls beneath you and then lifts into the air. He's careful to keep you and Daimon upright so you don't fall, and avoids crashing into the cave ceiling. His movements are controlled, but you can feel the tension in his muscles, caused by the unexpected visitor and the implications of his arrival.

Daimon is just as tense, eyes narrowed although he can't see. He's concentrating on not hooking his claws into Heishe's back, even though the dragon would barely be able to feel them even if he did.

When the dragon starts approaching the entrance and passes the castle, you can see that you're not the only ones who have noticed. Jin, Yoongi and Namjoon are storming out the front door, closely followed by Jungkook, then Hoseok. Taehyung is nowhere to be seen, but you assume that his absence is voluntary.

When he sees you, Jin exchanges a quick glance with Namjoon and Yoongi and then jumps to join you on Heishe's back while the others turn and run towards the cave entrance. The dragon doesn't mind much, even though originally, he was very hesitant to let anyone apart from you and Daimon fly with him.

Jin lands next to you and glances at you worriedly. "You okay?", he asks as he stands up. He knows whispering is no use; Jimin hear you easily. You give a simple nod and he exhales.
"I'll accompany you just in case."
You're barely able to give another nod back, and for the rest of the very short flight, everyone stays quiet.

Jimin is not hard to notice. The first thing that proves his presence is his aura slowly extending through the cave, like writhing tentacles that try to pull everything in they get a hold of. The first time it hits you, it feels like a punch in the stomach, and you instinctively hold your breath.
