I didn't bother sticking around to find out what Rafe was thinking. Even his name sounds evil. I haven't even been here for 24 hours and I think I've already made an enemy.
Unfortunately, I have a feeling I'll be making more.
"I need some release." I huffed as I got on my bike.
After leaving the pier, I ventured into town. Towards the shadier side like Delgado told me to do. On the last night with him, he helped set me up with one of his cousin who facilitates here in Outer Banks.
I cut my bike as I reached the abandoned looking warehouse.
"Typical." I grumbled as I moved my bike to the shadows. I was quick, my hair pinned and secured while I slid my black wig on, my bandanna which had a white "X" running through it cover my face before locking my motorcycle in place and grabbing a smaller bag with my keys and wraps, I moved swiftly across the empty parking lot towards the front entrance. My bandanna on tightly so it wouldn't fall.
If the building wasn't a give away, then the smell of alcohol and the cheers coming from inside were loud as day. I slipped in through the door to find two men sitting at a table playing cards. The noises coming from behind them.
I walked up to their table as they slowly looked up at me. Their eyebrows raising as they silently questioned what to do with a female.
"Chill. Delgado sent me. Told me his cousin Maurice ran this ring." I spoke confidently and as little as possible.
Rule one: Never blindly trust anyone
"And who might you be?" I rose an eyebrow.
"Someone who wants to talk to Maurice." The two looked at each other before laughing. I didn't find it funny.
"Okay. Here's what we'll do. I'll go grab Maurice and y'all can chat, if he wants to." They still thought it was funny.
"Tell him Koroleva is here to speak with him." Their laughter stopped immediately. I couldn't help the devilish grin that painted my lips. "I'd hurry if I were you."
The male nearly tripped over himself as he raced to find Maurice. The other guy wouldn't make eye contact as he mumbled apologies.
"Stop mumbling. I don't care." I informed him, his lips sealing as I watched the other male come back out with a well-dressed aged man.
"Ah, Koroleva, Delgado informed me you would be here at some point. What can I do for you?" Maurice voiced as he straightened out his suit and tie.
"You got anyone here looking for a fight tonight? I've just driven two days to get here, and my fists are begging." I spoke as I clenched and unclenched them.
"As a matter of fact, I've got someone who just asked the same thing." I smirked.
"Wonderful. Lead the way."
Maurice took me inside the doorway where several people were doing whatever the hell they could. There was a group playing cards, there were lines at the bar (both for drinks and the powdered stuff), there was dancing and strippers in another section, and then right in the center was an empty boxing ring with chairs circled around it. It was a large warehouse and somehow it was packed.
"Let me show you a personal locker room you can use. I'll give you the key to it so you can lock it once you leave." I nodded as I kept looking around. Damn this place was nice. The old barn yard storage place with Delgado had nothing on this place, not even a fraction.
"Here. Fights in ten." I caught the keys and pushed open the small door. There was a set of lockers, a bench then a walkway with a sink, shower, and a toilet. It was perfect.
I made quick work of my jacket and joggers. I slid on a loose black crop top over my maroon tank top then relaced my converse. I quickly wrapped my hands, spending extra care over my wrists before standing up and dynamically warming up.
When the knock on the door came, I was ready.
The sounds from before dwindled into hushed whispers and jeers as people filled in the seats. I used the darkness as cover as I watched the male warming up in the ring. He had about three inches on me, a solid reach, and looked to be able to pack a punch.
But he was older, in his thirties. Meaning he was slower and I could tire him out if necessary.
"Hey Maurice, I want 50% if I knock this guy out." I called out to him before making my way towards the ring.
"I'll give you 75% if you knock him out." He shouted back with a chuckle.
"Deal." I grinned as I tightened the bandanna around my head. I cracked my neck gently before stepping into the ring. I gave my shoulders a few good rolls before the referee stepped into the ring.
"You both know the rules. Eight rounds. Two minutes. Winner takes from the pot, loser walks." The referee stepped back as he did a quick introduction.
"Returning to the ring is DJ fighting against challenger Koroleva! And yes, this is the same fighter we have all heard about. Make sure your bets are in by the start of round one. You have thirty seconds."
"For such an intimidating reputation, you're oddly small." I rose an eyebrow at the male who wasn't much larger.
"For such a large male, you still make it to where your head is obnoxiously huge."
"And that's time! All bets must be in because we will start in 10, 9, 8, 7-"
Each second was another second for me to intimidate DJ, and his worried gaze fueled my desire to ground his ass.
"Begin."
