"Well, we won't need you to get the map because Sarah Cameron is coming tonight and bringing an original survey-"

"Whoa, wait. Sarah? Why Sarah?" I zipped my lips glad the heat was off me as John B popped his lips looking for the right words.

"This is gonna be good." JJ murmured, I smacked the blond's calf and gave him a look to shut up. Though, I think we both wanted to watch the interaction with some popcorn.

"Sarah, um, she- she got me into the archives in Chapel Hill yesterday, and that's where I got the letter." John B explained. My eyes went wide as Pope and I have each other a look, Kie standing up as she began to explode.

"You were in Chapel Hill with Sarah Cameron?" Kie was raising her voice now.

"Yeah, uh." John B stuttered.

"He was mackin' on her." My jaw dropped as I looked at John B.

"I wasn't mackin' on her." John B tried to defend himself. "I wasn't-"

"You were totally macking on her."

"I wasn't macking on her, okay? I was using her for access." John B deflected.

"There was access, all right." I stood up shaking my head before slapping the back of JJ's "Ow." He whined.

"Did you tell her about the treasure?"

"I was just trying to get into the archives." John B defended.

"Is that a yes?

"I-I left out key details."

"Yo, what?"

"Mommy and daddy are fighting again." I couldn't help but whisper to Pope the two of us stifling a laugh.

"Oh so you can poke fun but I can't?" JJ asked sitting down as we continued to watch the tennis match.

"You let a Kook in on our secret? What about Pogue Lyfe? What about the T-Shirt company, bro?"

"I was just using her for information."

"Why don't I believe you?" She sassed.

"I'm trying to make us filthy rich here. Okay, so that we can pay off a boat, or- or send you to autopsy school to study dead bodies. Look, you guys know me. Do I look like the type of person to fall for Sarah Cameron?"

"Uh," JJ started,

"Do you want us to answer that?" Pope asked.

"Cause we will it just may not be favorable for your argument." I concluded as John B huffed.

"Look, you don't know her yet. I do! You can't trust her."

"Her brother did hit me in the back with a golf club."

"Rafe and Sarah are different human beings." I agreed with John B. They really were.

"What did she do to you, exactly?" I stared at Kie who looked right back at me when JJ asked his question. I gave her a shrug, it was up to her if she felt she wanted to share it.

"She's like a- like a spitting cobra. First she blinds you and then-" I cut Kie off trying to help the girl.

"Kie, that's a bad analogy." She huffed.

"Look, just listen to me. Whatever we get, she's gonna try to take."

I said nothing as I stared into the fire. I had no beef with Sarah personally. But Kie is my best friend, so if she's got beef then indirectly I do as well.

If Kie knew that I was actually civil with Sarah and friendly at times, I bet I'd be getting the same lecture.

JJ, Pope and I were jamming in the Twinkie as John B drove. Kie laughed at our antics though she was still clearly pissed about bring Sarah into this mess.

I hadn't said anything to her about it, worried she might pop her lid more if I did. If she wanted to talk then she would.

"Whoo!" JJ shouted as John B pulled to a stop. "Recon mission, let's go boys." All of us were ready to hop out of the Twinkie when John B stopped us.

"Yo, uh, so, I think I'm gonna do this one by myself." We all stopped and blinked as John B spoke.

"Really?" JJ asked as this of us in the back sat back down.

"What?" John B asked.

"Nothin' brotha." JJ sassed raising his hands.

"Look, I don't want to spook Sarah with the peanut gallery." John B admitted.

"I just don't understand why we're involving her at all. Xena said she could get us the map."

"Kie we're not involving her, okay? It's- it's just uh like a business meeting." I blinked looking at John B.

"You're really not selling it. B." I sang, scoffing as I saw JJ give his joint a blowjob.

"Look, once we get what we need, we cut her loose, all right?"

"Real classy, B." I chimed climbing past Kie and Pope as I pushed John B's face away from the passenger seat and wormed my way to the front. My dress trapping my legs as I had to spin and avoid kicking John B in the face.

"You could have just gone around, T."

"Not the problem at hand, B." I mocked as Kie cleared her throat.

"Promise me nothing's happening between you."

"Nothings happening Kie."

"I'm being serious."

"Okay."

I leaned behind the passenger seat on the opposite side of Kie and John B.

"I know y'all joke I'm the mom, but these two act like fighting parents." I whispered, Pope and JJ agreeing.

"This isn't about you, and this isn't about us. This is about her. She's gonna get inside your head. Just promise me nothing's happening between you guys."

"I promise." I pursed my lips thundering rumbling outside as I bit back my observational response. JJ and Pope on the other hand didn't.

"That was really believable." JJ poked.

"A hundred percent believe."

"Oi! Just cause you have a thought doesn't mean you have to say it out loud." I scolded the two before turning to look at Kie and John B.

"But seriously. Kie, I promise everything will work out. B, don't be stupid. Y'all need to quit bickering. It's really fucking annoying and I'm about two minutes away from pulling this car around and doing the meet up myself later."

It was silent, everyone turning to look at me before collectively letting out,

"Okay, mom."

"I knew that was coming." I grumbled to myself. "Now get!"
