I left Pope with JJ as I went to go hunt Kie down. I was gonna let the boys have their talk while we had our own meet up.
"I'm so glad we get to go do this." Kie started as she hopped on my bike.
"Smoothies here we come!" I shouted kicking off as we drove into town. It wasn't long till we got to our special little smoothie bar, Tauti's.
"I've been waiting for weeks to come back to Tauti's with you. We really should make it a monthly ordeal." Kie said as we finished placing our order at the window.
"I promise we will try to go more frequently. It's good to get some girl time." I spoke as we found a table and sat down.
"Amen." Kie smiled before sighing, laying her hands flat on the tabletop. "So. Are you gonna tell me what really happened last night?" I shook my head, laughing.
"I knew it. Alright, but let's get the smoothies first. How'd you know?"
"What? That you were lying?" I nodded, silently letting her go on, "well, other than the fact your hands and face were bruised or cut up, and now currently wrapped or gelled, you told me you had finally cleaned your yard earlier this week. You were proud of it too."
"Shit, and this is how I know you actually listen when I talk. JJ and B, right through." I made a swish noise as I move my hands in a take off motion.
"Here you are ladies," we looked up to see Jan one of the servers setting our smoothies on the table.
"Thank you, Jan." She smiled setting napkins down too.
"Y'all enjoy your girls day." She left leaving me to turn back to see Kie who was waiting.
"Okay, so I may have gotten into a fight with Rafe. That I started." I told the half-truth. Not why I started it knowing Pope hadn't told anyone other than JJ and I. So it wasn't my place to share. "He pissed me off, and one thing led to the next. I had him sign a contract we started to spar, then all bets were off. Gloves down, headgear off. If we had any energy left we'd probably both have kept going. It felt good. All the rage just left my body, yeah taking some of his hits hurt like a bitch. But, it felt-- good." Kie stopped sipping her smoothie and blinked twice at me.
"I, I literally have no words. You are the baddest bitch I know. Tv, movies, books. I hate that you fight and just thinking about you getting seriously hurt makes me worried, but shit. If I was a dude, I'd be on my knees for you." I laughed, although my cheeks did darken slightly.
"Kie, I'm charmed, really."
We drank our smoothies silently for a few moments.
"I wouldn't fight if I didn't know the risks. Knowing them and knowing the feeling I get after I successfully come out on the other side. It's-- I feel weird discussing it." I admitted as Kie smiled sadly.
"What does successful look like to you in these situations?" I sighed, hoping that wasn't the question she had.
"Able to keep fighting." We finished our smoothies in silence. The weight of that enough to keep us quiet. Once we went out to my bike, Kie seemed to shake the feeling off.
"Hey, they're doing a movie night in the park. We should go." I grinned handing her a helmet as I pulled on my own.
"You know, that sounds wonderful. How about we go get your car and we pick up the boys."
"Let's do it." We whooped and hollered as I pulled out of Tauti's parking lot. The trip to Kie's house taking minutes as we switched vehicles and made our way to the Cut.
"Oi! Losers! We're going to a movie!" I shouted sticking my body outside of the car as we pulled up to JJ's. JJ and Pope were sitting on the porch relaxing when we rolled up.
