19. We're Different

Steve kept watching his phone screen which was already turned off. He wasn't sure what make from it. He is supposed to meet Natasha, not Ms Romanoff. Does she feel the same as he feels about her? That question popped up in his mind often, but he ignored it. But now, he has no clue.

He sighed and came back to stand beside Mr Anderson, as he had walked away while talking to Natasha on his phone. Both of them shared a look, then walked in. Security led them farther inside where Steve found Pierce, looking at him with a smirk. " Ah! Captain Rogers! Knew you work for them but I had no idea that Mrs Shostakov would send you here ."

Steve nodded with a huff," I would like to keep our greetings aside and talk about business. That's why I'm here."

His smile dropped but he carried on," Also, I know you're not some stupid who walks into a trap, that too being aware of it beforehand. " Then he turned to his men," Helicopter is ready right?" They nodded at him. Then he looked at Steve," Treat my guests well. " And walked inside.

Suddenly around twenty men surrounded Steve and Mr Anderson.

Well, Steve didn't expect that Pierce would run away. He looked at Mr Anderson and both pulled out his guns and started firing at the men around them. He took cover behind a pillar and ducked the raining bullets at him. He took down some men and Mr Anderson did the same.

But Steve knew it was Pierce's plan all along. He would keep him engaged with gun firing and he was gonna escape. Just then two machine guns roared from his behind and rest of the guards fell on the floor. Steve turned around to find his former teammates, Sam and Ramlow. Steve was breathing heavily as he leaned against the wall at his back. " Still late as usual?"

Sam chuckled on his comment," Sorry Cap. We got stuck in traffic. "

Ramlow nodded at him," We'll take care here. You need to hurry, his pilot is already here." Steve nodded at them and ran inside with Mr Anderson.

They ran through the stairs to the hallipad of the building. The noise of the helicopter could be heard as they're losing time. They fired at the guard stationed at the roof. Steve got a bullet on his left shoulder but he carried on. He can't stop here.

He fired at Pierce's leg as he fell down crying in pain. Mr Anderson ordered his team to enter into the building. Steve walked up to Pierce and pointed his gun to his head," You have no way out. Should we stop this game now?" Pierce held his hands high as he surrendered.

Meanwhile, at the association tower, Melina was pacing back and forth, Sophie was sitting on a chair in front of her lowering her head.

Melina folded her arms on her chest," So, basically, Pierce appointed you to work with me to keep an eye on me?"

She nodded. " After my parents' death, he paid our debts. He told me to work under you and win your trust. "
