Chapter 11: A Clown's Tragedy

Bruce suited up and started looking at different places Joker often hid. He checked the abandoned board walk which was under Joker's control but none of his men had seen him. He also checked numerous abandoned buildings he had previously captured at, 3 of them were now under Penguin's control and the other two were completely cleaned out like no one has been there in months. Bruce felt like he was running out of places to check but then he found Selina Kyle A.K.A Catwoman on the prowl. "Selina." Stated Bruce as he walked up behind her.
"Hey Bruce." She said coldly as she didn't even turn around to face him.
"I take it you're still mad at me." Said Bruce as he actually felt a little.
"Yeah Bruce! That's what happens when you kiss a girl then turn her over to the cops!" She snarled as she jumped up on a building.
"I need your help." Said Bruce as she turned.
"Last time I helped you it landed me 20 years in Blackgate!" Said Selina as she sighed. "Well it's not like I spent those 20 years but still." Said Selina as Bruce sighed.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have led you on like that." Said Bruce as she jumped down.
"Yeah you shouldn't have but it's the past." Muttered Selina as she looked at him. "What do you need?" She asked as Bruce sighed.
"I hate to ask this of you, taken our history but have you heard anything about Joker?" Asked Bruce as Catwoman walked around him.
"Not for a while no, why are you looking for a homo hook up?" Asked Selina as she was obviously still bitter that Bruce chose Joker over her.
"No it's for Sarah." Said Bruce as she sighed.
"Well how bout I just let you know if I hear anything." Said Selina as Bruce remembered that Vanessa was also mentioned in Sarah's cries of frustration, maybe Vanessa knew where he went.
"Have you seen Vanessa by chance?" Asked Bruce as Selina turned.
"Yeah, about an hour ago she stood by my apartment, said she was picking a few things to go shopping." Said Selina as she put air quotes around the word shopping which gave Bruce the notion that Vanessa was just as much of a burglar as her mother.
"Did she say where she was going?" Asked Bruce as Selina hopped up on a ledge of the rooftop they stood on.
"Said she was going to Wayne Enterprises." Said Selina as she then leaped off the building and like that she was gone. Bruce rushed to his office in Wayne Enterprises and started checking the security cameras for Vanessa. Eventually he found her sitting in a waiting area outside of the office to his head of experimental research. Bruce changed out of the suit and into his business attire then headed to ask her a few questions.

"Miss Kyle, Miss Dupont will see you now." Said the receptionist as Vanessa stood but Bruce grabbed her wrist.
"Why don't you come talk with me I oversee everything here at Wayne Enterprises." Suggested Bruce kindly as Vanessa tugged her hand away.
"No but I'd really like to speak with Miss Dupont." Said Vanessa as Bruce smiled.
"Please I insist." Said Bruce as Vanessa walked away with him. Bruce brought her to his office and sat her down. "Sarah says you disappeared on her!" Barked Bruce as Vanessa sank into her shoulders.
"Well her boyfriend was there so I thought that she'd be fine..." Said Vanessa as Bruce looked at her.
"Boyfriend?" Asked Bruce as Vanessa nodded.
"Yeah some bald guy named Victor, he and Joker kicked the crap out of each other before we came back from her doctor's appointment, they went upstairs and I thought that it should be that guy's responsibility to watch after her not mine." Said Vanessa as Bruce sighed.
"Where did Joker go?" Asked Bruce as Vanessa shrugged.
"I don't know all he said was that he felt bad for upsetting her and took off." Said Vanessa as Bruce sighed.
"Did he say anything else?" Asked Bruce as Vanessa thought about it for a second.
"Nothing that made sense." Said Vanessa as Bruce growled under his breath.
"Tell me anyway." Said Bruce aggressively.
"He muttered something about needing help and then said he was gonna talk to his own personal shrink." Said Vanessa as she rolled her eyes Bruce sighed for not realizing it sooner.
"Quinn." He growled as Vanessa looked at him.
"Can I go now?" Asked in a very sass filled tone.
"Go." Said Bruce firmly as she stood and left.

Joker laid on an old worn in couch with his head in Harley's lap staring at the ceiling. "What am I doing wrong Harls? All I want is for her to be safe and happy but all she does is fall for guys that are destined to hurt her!" Said Joker as Harley sighed.
"Mister J, have ya ever thought that maybe Sarah is looking for guys like you?" Suggested Harley as Joker sat up and looked at her.
"Harley that makes no sense! Why would she have Daddy issues?! I treat her great!" Said Joker as Harley stood from the couch.
"That's exactly it Mister J! What this world considers to be nice guys have only ever treated her like a freak but guys like you have given her nothing but love and respect. Think about it and Arkham Guard beats her to near death but the cruelest man in town saves her, the guys in Sarah's school were all assholes while Penguin's lap dog treated her like a queen! Now isn't much different, normal stand up kinda guys are intimidated by Sarah's smarts and attitude but a guy like Zsasz who's honestly got more screws loose than the two of us combined he still sees how great she is and that's why she goes out with guys like her father. Only men like you have treated her like she actually mattered." Said Harley as Joker sighed.
"I don't want her to be with a guy like me Harley, she's the most important thing to me and I still hurt her! A guy like me is no good..." Said Joker as he hung his head.
"Well that I agree with." Said Bruce as he walked out from the shadows of the room.
"I guess you're here to take me back to Arkham." Grumbled Joker as Harley stepped back a bit though it seemed to be in surrender but Bruce wasn't paying attention to her so he didn't notice that she was reaching for her mallet. "Go ahead take me in Sarah hates me anyway!" Huffed Joker as he held out his wrists.
"No she doesn't! Don't you remember before she was born? You told me you hated me all the time but you always took it back. She's just frustrated." Said Bruce as he did restrain Joker as to give the illusion he was taking him to Arkham but then he was hit across the side of the head by Harley's large mallet.
"I won't let you take him!" She shouted as she swung again and knocked Bruce out of the window.
"Harley!!" Said Joker as he leaned out the window and saw that Bruce had vanished.
"Mister J, I know that for weeks I've been acting like I don't care about you anymore but that's not true! I miss you Mister J! I wanna be your Harley again!" Said Harley as she put her hand on his chest.
"Oh Harls!" Said Joker as he actually found her pleading to be adorable.
"Puddin!" She said as she leaned up for a kiss so Joker rolled his eyes and forced himself to kiss her. "Now come on let's get you outta here!" Said Harley as she grabbed Joker's hand and rushed him out.
"Seriously! You two are thing again!" Said Nightwing as he jumped down from the roof. He tapped his batons together and they sparked with blue sparks and lightning. "I thought you were getting smarter Quinn, guess not." Said Nightwing as he swung his batons and Harley blocked it with the shaft of her mallet. She turned her mallet and sorta spun it to break up his batons.
"Go Mister J, I got this!" Said Harley as Joker took off.
