Chapter 21: Reunion

Edward and Daniel stood there staring at Oswald's mother then looked at Oswald. "We need to talk." Said Edward as he grabbed Oswald's hand and ran away with him.
"Excuse us." Said Daniel politely to Gertrude and went after them.
"Oswald what did you do?!" Demanded Ed as Oswald smiled.
"I didn't have to do anything, Abigail Dupont brought her back to make a deal with me. I would get Mother and Daniel back from the dead and in return-"
"Hold on Abigail Dupont!? That woman is a psychopath! She made Sarah watch me die to prove a point!" Barked Daniel as Oswald started to get a little nervous.
"She said she wanted to be my friend that she didn't want to hurt me." Said Oswald as Daniel sighed.
"What did you have to do in return?" Asked Daniel as Oswald was hesitant in saying but knew that it was foolish to keep it from them.
"I have to give her everything..." Said Oswald as Edward and Daniel looked at him very seriously.
"Oswald what does that mean?" Asked Edward as Oswald's hands were shaking.
"She wanted everything I controlled in Gotham's Underworld and I said yes." Said Oswald as Edward and Daniel got very upset. Edward couldn't even look at him. "Look I'm sorry but it's not we're not in any danger." Said Oswald as Edward turned.
"What do you think she's going to do when of no use to her Oswald?!" Barked Edward as Oswald glared at him.
"Ed, why would she go through all the trouble of bringing my mother back from the dead just to kill me?!" Demanded Oswald as Daniel decided to defuse the situation.
"Alright look I know everything is tense but I can see about talking to Sarah and trying to get at what she's planning until then let's just enjoy the fact that none of us are dead yet, ok?" Asked Daniel as Edward took a breath.
"Daniel's right, fighting amongst ourselves will get us nowhere." Said Edward as Oswald went back into the room where they had left his mother.
"Is everything alright? I heard shouting." Said Gertrude as Oswald shook his head holding their hands.
"No, everything is alright, Mother. Come I want to meet my family." Said Oswald as he welcomed her into the room that the three had run off to and  they sat down to talk.
"So this tall handsome man is your husband?" She asked as she looked at Edward who stood next to Oswald.
"Yes, it's been nearly 30 years of perfect marriage." Said Oswald with a smile as Edward smiled and started to blush.
"Yes it has." Said Edward as he leaned down and kissed him.
"And this is my grandson." She said with a smile as she looked at Daniel who was a little unnerved by the situation at hand. "What a handsome man you have grown into, you look just like my Oswald." She as she held the sides of his face.
"I never heard that one before." Said Daniel as he chuckled a bit.
"You know what I'm gonna make some tea." Said Oswald as Daniel rushed up.
"I'll come give ya hand." Said Daniel as then it was just Edward and Gertrude.
"Forgive me if I'm being rude but you like me and your son together correct?" Asked Edward as she smiled.
"Of course!" Said Gertrude as Edward sat down next to her.
"So it doesn't upset you that he's married to a man?" He asked as Gertrude sighed.
"I've known since my Oswald was a little boy that no woman could ever make him happy so I always worried that he would try to be like all the others and be with a woman but knowing that you make him happy makes me happy." Said Gertrude as Edward smiled and Daniel walked in so Edward rushed off into the kitchen. He saw Oswald watching the tea steep so he snuck up behind him and wrapped his arms around his husband's waist kissing his neck wildly.
"Ed!" Oswald squealed as he turned around. "What was that for?" He asked with a smile.
"She likes me." Said Edward with a beaming smile on his face.
"Of course she does why would you think she wouldn't?" Asked Oswald as Edward leaned against the counter.
"Well with how you talk about your mother she seemed very old fashioned so I often worried that she wouldn't have approved of us." Said Edward as Oswald sighed.
"The thought also crossed my mind but what did she say?" Asked Oswald as Edward grinned.
"Well she said that she always knew that you were gay so seeing us together makes her very happy." Said Edward as Oswald smiled too.
"Really?!" Asked Oswald as Edward got very close to him putting his hand on the side of Oswald's.
"God I missed you." Said Edward as Oswald held his hand.
"I missed you too." Said Oswald as Edward kissed him.
