Chapter 27: On the Hunt

Joker felt rather useless in the quest to find a cure for the disease that plagued his grandson so Bruce sent him out to go find Mr. Freeze and see what exactly he used to cure Sarah so he did. Joker arrived at the coldest point in Gotham which was most certainly housing the only man in Gotham who couldn't stand anything above freezing.

"Oh come on Freeze I really need your help here! It's a family matter I thought you'd understand that!?" Barked Joker as Freeze sighed.
"I do understand that Joker but I still can't help you when what you're seeking is something I didn't make I only made parts of it, parts which are not present in your daughter's blood. The parts that cured her were some left over chemicals I stole from the ruins of one of Hugo Strange's old labs. I don't know what it was but all I have left of it is the empty I.V. bag." Said Freeze as he opened a drawer and pulled out the completely drained I.V. bag that still had its old labels on it. Though Joker didn't know where to find Strange but he definitely knew where to find his niece.

Joker went down to the warehouse where all of the Indian Hill victims were staying at and immediately found Astris. "Hey you're Astris Arker, right? Hugo Strange's niece?" Asked Joker as he hadn't spoken to Astris much when he would spend time in this place, typically he mostly spoke to Sarah or Vanessa who he actually sort of liked.
"Yes and you're the Joker, Sarah's father. Can I help you?" Asked Astris as she adjusted her circle rimmed glasses.
"I need to find your uncle." Stated Joker as Astris sighed.
"Can't help you, I haven't spoken to that bastard since we experimented on Sarah together because after that he made a deal with the police and I got locked in Blackgate while he walked free!" He hissed as she huffed. "I wish I could paralyze him and beat him over the head with a 2 by 4." She muttered.
"I know where to find him." Said Daniel from the balcony.
"So what'll it cost me Danny Boy?" Asked Joker as Daniel grinned and came down the stairs.
"One simple small little thing." Stated Daniel as he walked up to Joker and got quite close. "I want you to say that I'm good enough to marry your daughter." Stated Daniel with a smug grin.
"Absolutely not!" Joker barked as Daniel shook his head.
"Is your pride really so much more important than the life of your grandson who I might add just recently came back into your daughter's life? I don't think she'd ever forgive you if she knew you refused to save him just because I challenged your pride." Said Daniel as Joker glared at him.
"Fine! Daniel you are good to marry my little girl!" Said Joker through his teeth as he was so disgusted by the fact that Daniel posed him such an ultimatum with such dire strates at hand that he hauled off and punched Daniel in face knocking him to the ground but Joker got a bit of an electric shock when he made contact with Daniel's skin. "Ah! What the hell was that!?" Said Joker as Daniel sat up.
"My powers which I can't control you asshole!" Barked Daniel as he held his nose and stood up.
"So where too from here Danny Boy?" Asked Joker as Daniel checked if his nose was bleeding and it was.
"Cobblepot Mansion." Stated Daniel as he and Joker exited the building and walked out to Daniel's car.
"I always wondered how Ozzie could've afforded you such a nice ride." Stated Joker as he rubbed his hand on the hood of Daniel's silver car.
"He didn't I did, being a lounge player pays pretty well along with being a gangster." Stated Daniel as he used his key fob and unlocked the car. "Get in." Said Daniel as Joker got in and they headed off to Cobblepot Mansion.

They arrived at the manor and Daniel insisted that Joker stay in the car because if any of Oswald's men saw him they'd shoot first and ask questions never so Daniel went inside. "Oswald you here!" Called Daniel as he walked around the house for a second but didn't find anything until he walked into what Oswald often affectionately called his thrown room where he saw Oswald laying on the table with Ed pinning him. Daniel immediately left. "I can't leave you two alone for a second without you going at it like wild rabbits! God damn!" Daniel called from the other room.
"To be fair it's been a few hours since you left." Stated Oswald as both he and Ed walked into the room disheveled but dressed nonetheless.
"Is there something you wanted?" Asked Ed as Daniel sighed.
"Oswald do you still have contacts with Strange?" Asked Daniel as Oswald sighed.
"Possibly, why?" Asked Oswald with a suspicious tone as he looked at Daniel in a curious way.
"I need his help." Stated Daniel as neither Ed nor Oswald seemed to be wanting to fall for Daniel's deceitfulness.
"Why?" Asked Ed as Daniel sighed.
"Why does it matter!?" Barked Daniel as Oswald rolled his eyes.
"Because he's a dangerous man and you've already died once." Stated Ed as he glared at his son. "So talk!" Barked Ed in a quite forceful tone. Daniel huffed and spilled everything knowing they wouldn't help if they were kept in the dark.
