Chapter 3: Disaster

Sarah went to unlock the front door but found it was already unlocked which was odd because Daniel had often expressed the necessity that their door was to always be locked so Sarah got a chill down her spine thinking that someone had broken in. She quickly pulled a revolver from her purse which her father had insisted she stay armed as much as possible. In highschool Sarah carried a switch blade but since she was now working at Arkham she felt heavier artillery was required. Sarah slowly opened the door and walked inside expecting a threat. As she walked down the hall she noticed Daniel's clothes on the floor and clothes that did not belong to Sarah on the floor as well. Suddenly her heart skipped a beat, she was actually hoping they were robbed or worse because that would be easier to deal with than the thoughts rushing through her head. She walked up the stairs and with each step she took towards her bedroom caused her heart to sink. Tears formed in her eyes as she stood in front of her door which was cracked and saw Daniel laying in bed and another woman sitting on Sarah's side of the bed. Suddenly the woman turned and Sarah saw her face. "Vanessa?" Asked Sarah in a tear filled tone as Vanessa's face turned pale at the sight of her half sister looking so destroyed.
"Sarah?!" Asked Vanessa as she quickly stood looking over at Daniel. She then ran over to Sarah standing only in her underwear. "Sarah I didn't even know you were back!?" Said Vanessa as she hung her head. "Sarah, I'm so sorry! I had no idea that Daniel was your fiance! Please you have to believe me!" Begged Vanessa as Sarah tried to hold back her tears.
"Why? Why him! Huh!? You could have any guy you want! Why did you have to choose Daniel?!" Asked Sarah as tears flooded down her face.
"It was just a job I swear!" Said Vanessa as Sarah sniffled.
"What?" Asked Sarah utterly confused but somewhat relieved.
"Remember I'm a thief for hire, dummy. I was hired to steal from the Penguin's right hand. That was the only reason I slept with him, I didn't even know he was with anyone let alone you! I am so sorry! If I knew I would've never taken the job!" Said Vanessa as Sarah sighed.
"I forgive you V, you didn't know.... Daniel's the one I'm pissed at!" Said Sarah as she gripped her gun in her hand trying to repress the urge to go shoot him. "Vanessa, just go I don't want you to see this it's gonna get ugly." Said Sarah as she just stared at the floor. Vanessa put her hand on the side of Sarah face lifting her gaze from the floor.
"Hey, just promise me you're not gonna kill him." Requested Vanessa as Sarah nodded.
"I promise." Said Sarah as she thought of another way to get back at him. Vanessa got dressed and left leaving Sarah alone with Daniel.

Sarah knew that Daniel was quite the deep sleeper so she walked through their bedroom collecting all of his belongings without waking him. She took his clothes, his keyboard piano, all of his sheet music, his notebooks where he wrote his own songs, the custom tux he had bought for their previously upcoming wedding, every bit of jewelry he owned, and the many photos that they had of each other displayed about their home and put them in a cardboard box. She set the box outside in the alley way just under their bedroom window then called Daniel on his phone which was the only thing she left with him. It rang for a moment then he picked. "Hey babe." Said Daniel tiredly.
"Hey Daniel can you come over to the bedroom window please?" Asked Sarah sweetly as Daniel yawned.
"Sure." Said Daniel as he stood and came over to the window which was open. He looked down and saw all of his stuff. "Sarah what's going on?" Asked Daniel as now he was completely awake.
"Daniel you really must be stupid to think that you could cheat on me and I wouldn't notice." Said Sarah with venom in her voice. "You were my first love and I thought you'd be my only love but I guess highschool sweethearts don't always end well huh?" Said Sarah as she looked at him from down in the alley standing in front of a box of his stuff and there was a bottle of lighter fluid in her hand.
"Sarah we can talk about this ok! It was a stupid mistake! I was drunk and questioning my priorities please just give me another chance." Begged Daniel as Sarah glared at him pulling a lighter from her pocket. Sarah sprayed the lighter fluid on the box of his stuff.
"My Dad was right about you from the very beginning, you were never gonna treat me right and I was just so blinded by foolish love." Said Sarah as she lit the lighter and threw it on his stuff. "Don't worry I won't tell Dad about your little lapse on judgement, I wanna be the one to make you suffer not him." Said Sarah coldly. "Now get the duck out of my house!" She barked as she hung up the call.
