Chapter 32: The Big Leagues

Bruce stood on a rooftop in Gotham as rain pelted down against each plate of armor on his batsuit. "Jeez I forgot how much it rains in Gotham." Said the voice of Clark Kent A.K.A Superman as Bruce turned seeing the man float onto the rooftop.
"I told you I didn't need your help." Said Bruce in his typical cold tone as he walked past Clark.
"Hey, if Luthor is involved then you do! The man is dangerous, especially if he's working with the Joker!" Said Clark firmly almost like he was trying to put his foot down with Bruce but Bruce quickly turned and Clark lost all confidence and sort sunk into his shoulders. "Look I know it's your city so you take the lead on this." Said Clark as Bruce walked over and stood next to Clark. Bruce tapped the electronic panel on his gauntlet and displayed a holographic screen.
"Luthor has been shipping in dozens of crates and housing them in abandoned warehouses that I've had marked as Joker's hideouts throughout the city. I've had Robin and Nightwing over looking the two largest warehouses. Robin is watching over the one in Kingston and Nightwing is watching over the other in Bristol." Said Bruce as he flipped between pictures of the warehouses that had dozens of Lex Corp armored trucks and semi's unloading large cargo all of Lex Corp brand being brought into the warehouses. "I've been keeping watch on Joker's last known locations though I haven't seen him yet, what I have seen is all of Joker's men on high alert." Said Bruce as he showed camera footage of the warehouses showing that Joker's men were armed to the gills and guarding three warehouses. "All three warehouses that are heavily guarded all used to be owned by Sionis Industries and are all on the same property." Said Bruce as Clark hummed.
"I could take a peek at what they're protecting." Said Clark as he was referring to his X-Ray Vision.
"It's no use, those buildings are from old Gotham, the walls are lined with lead." Said Bruce as he deactivated the gauntlet's hologram. "We'll have to do things the old fashion way." Said Bruce as Clark sighed.
"Stealth." Said Clark as Bruce nodded and pulled out his grappling gun.
"Follow me." Said Bruce as he grappled up and started gliding through the air.

Bruce finally stopped and landed on a broadcast tower with Clark floating next to him. "So how are we gonna do this?" Asked Clark as Bruce looked at him with the lenses on his suit glowing a bright white.
"Follow my lead." Said Bruce as he glided down and started taking out the men one by one silently but he had only taken out two guys before Clark sped through the entire compound and took out all the guys before anyone could even blink. Bruce huffed and Clark sped over to him.
"What? I followed your lead just a little faster." Said Clark as with a soft smile as Bruce turned off his detective vision and rolled his eyes. Bruce and Clark wandered into the building but the moment they stepped inside the building was laced in a bright neon green glow which caused Clark to drop to the ground gasping for air with his veins glowing bright green.
"Too bad you won't find out what we're doing Superman, oh well better try and again next time." Said the voice of Lex Luthor as Bruce dragged Clark out of the building. Bruce laid Clark out on the rooftop and immediately he regained life. Clark shot up and sighed.
"I'm sorry Bruce." Said Clark as he hung his head.
"It's fine Clark, we couldn't have known that Luthor was going to use Kryptonite." Said Bruce as he looked back at the building. "You stay here, I'll investigate on my own." Said Bruce as Clark nodded.
"Call if you need me." Said Clark as Bruce knew he wouldn't.

Bruce went inside and immediately grappled up to the ceiling without being seen. He watched as armed thugs unloaded boxes of what looked like medical equipment. "Lexie you've really outdone yourself this time!" Said Joker's voice as Bruce glided over to the top of the office and stared through the skylight above them.
"You know I'm surprised you reached out to me, I had heard you were in the good with Bruce Wayne." Stated Lex as Joker sighed.
"Yeah I can't have Brucie knowing about this, honestly I think he'd be pretty cross with me if he knew what I was up to." Said Joker as he leaned against the wall.
"So what are you up to exactly?" Asked Luthor as Joker sighed.
"You're aware that I have a daughter right?" Asked Joker as Luthor nodded.
"Yes I've met with her a number of times, Mister Wayne used to ask her to attend my charity functions in his place, she's quite beautiful and I must say one of the most intelligent women I've had the pleasure of conversation with." Said Lex as Joker nodded.
"Well recently she's found herself mixed up in a lot of nasty stuff, right now she's heading our way with a bunch of freaks she calls family but they're only really a family because of this lady Anita Halestrum. She experimented on Sarah and all these other people turning them into monsters." Said Joker as he laughed a little. "These people have been through everything from plastic surgery to biochem therapy and now it's left them with incredible abilities. These folks could bring Gotham to its knees but they don't want to. They wanna be your everyday average joe and Sarah wants to help them with that kind of goal." Said Joked as Lex hummed.
"And why exactly would she want to do that?" Asked Lex as Joker sighed.
"My poor girl feels responsible for what happened to them because it was all done with her blood. I would tell her it's not her fault but I don't really want to argue with her right now, she's in such a fragile state." Said Joker as Bruce sighed.

He exited the building through a broken window not being seen and met Clark on an opposing rooftop. "I heard everything, Bruce..." Said Clark as he sighed.
"And?" Asked Bruce as Clark shook his head.
"No there has to be some other plan, Lex Luthor doesn't just do good things without getting something in return." Said Clark as Bruce shook his head.
"Clark it's not unbelievable that villains can do good things especially when they've met my daughter." Said Bruce as Clark turned.
"What do you mean?" Asked Clark as Bruce sighed.
"It's strange, I don't know if it's an ability she has or some psychological truck but Sarah can make the most heartless evil doers I know so the most noble and good things just because she asks them too. She brings out the best in people who have proven time and time again that they're not worth the chance she gives them." Said Bruce as Clark suddenly sped off faster than Bruce could see. "Oh no." Muttered Bruce as he quickly got on his comms and talked with Barbara. "Oracle, I need you to track where Superman just went, he's going to do something foolish I know it and I need to stop him because it's going to involve Sarah." Said Bruce as he glided off the building.
"I'm tracking his speed through the city, he stopped at Sarah's house." Said Barbara as Bruce growled at the response knowing that Clark was going to do something stupid.

Bruce called the Batmobile and drove as fast as he could just praying that Clark wouldn't hurt her. Bruce ran inside seeing the door had been busted off its hinges. He ran in and saw Sarah sitting on the floor holding her throat. "Sarah!" Bruce yelled as he ran to her side but she put up her hand.
"I'm fine but he's going after Dad! You need to hurry! He's gonna kill him!" Said Sarah as Bruce ran back out the door and got back in the car. He blared through the streets as fast as he could praying he would get there in time but as he got out of the car he heard a sound like the sound barrier breaking as something flew over head. With that sound tears fell from his eyes because though he refused to admit it until he knew for certain but inside he knew he was too late.

He ran into the building and saw him laying there motionless. He shook his head as more tears fell. "No.... No, no... Please no!" He begged as he dropped to his knees next to him and picked up his limp body feeling how cold he was. "NO!" he screamed as he pressed his lover to his chest wishing he had gotten there just a little sooner because just maybe he could've saved him. "I'm so sorry Joker!" Said Bruce as he sobbed into Joker's shoulder. Suddenly Joker gasped and gripped onto Bruce tightly. Bruce loosened his grip. "You're alive?" He asked softly as Joker chuckled.
"Yeah turns out Sarah got that Dionesium stuff from my genetics so I used the same stuff she used, to myself immortal. Are you ma-" Bruce immediately kissed him passionately before he could finish his question. Once the kiss was broken Bruce just hugged Joker around his midsection and buried his face into Joker's chest.
"Bats you haven't kissed me like that in ages." Said Joker as he was blushing.
"I'm just glad you're ok." Said Bruce as he squeezed Joker a little showing just how much he cared for his Clown Prince of Crime. So Joker just kissed the top of Bruce's cowl leaving an imprint from his lipstick.
"I love you Brucie." Said Joker as the two just held each other in a close embrace there on the floor. The two felt safe and loved it was a feeling neither one of them had felt in a long time, it was just nice to be loved.
"I love you too."
