The sun shone through sheer green curtains early in the morning. Gwen slammed her hand down on the alarm that rung for a couple minutes while she tried silencing it with the pillow over her head.

The first day of senior year.

She groaned as she looked at the clock. 7:12 AM.

"Goddamnit," She whispered under her breath before stretching and slithering out of bed.

She walked slowly to her full length mirror and rubbed her tired eyes. She slipped a large t-shirt over her slim fitting tank top and then a pair of dirty jeans over her boxers. She stayed in her room as long as she could so that she could avoid her mother who would critique her outfit to the last wrinkle in her shirt.

Her phone started ringing on her bedside table causing her to walk over, picking her pace up a little more than before.

"Hey, what's up?" She answered to her best friend, Gales', call.

"Will you have time to pick me up before school? My car engine is fucking up again," She checked the time again, seeing that it had barely been ten minutes since she crawled out of her warm, comfortable bed.

"Yeah, I'll stop by your place and we can run through Starbucks or something."

"We won't be late will we?"

"Who gives a shit if we're late. It's our last year and the first day of school." Gale shrugged even though Gwen wouldn't see it.

"Sounds good to me." Gwen hung up and dove face first into her soft bed, screaming into her pillow because of this curse called highschool.

Gwen had few friends but she didn't mind. Gale and Storey were all she needed as of now and any time in the near and far future. She came out- well not willingly- to her parents a year ago and you could say they didn't take it well if you like to sugarcoat things. Her dad would already be at work by now but her mom was awake to bring her little brother to school. That little suck up was basically the saint that made up for the mistake that was Gwen. He was perfect, always did was he was told, even though their mom and dad had to hold his hand through everything to make sure he didn't turn out anything like his sister. They never did that with Gwen. Not even before she was forcibly outed.

She sunk down to the floor beside her bed and groaned loudly for a second time. After laying there for a second, marinating in her sorrow, she got up and finished getting ready. She waiting until it was 7:50 to get into her jeep where she drove around the block to pick Gale up.

The tall brunette walked toward the car with his backpack from last year draped over his shoulder.

"Get in, loser. Time to start the worst day of the year."

He threw his bag in the floorboard and sat down, leaning back in he seat.

"So is your car really not working or did you not want to drive?"

"Yes"

"Straightforward answer."

Gale smiled and licked his lips as they pulled into the Starbucks drive-thru.

"I want a cake pop, I don't have my wallet, be my sugar daddy for the day." Gwen leaned her head towards him, smirking at him.

"Sure thing babygirl." She winked and dug around her messy car for her wallet before finally finding it under an old taco bell bag.

"Awe you kept the taco bell from when we hung out three weeks ago?" Gale said with a twinkle in his eye.

"Of course I did! I could never throw it away," She rolled her eyes and they finally pulled up to the window.
