Chapter 31

Gwen's Pov~

After talking with Storey and her telling me to speak with Lee I kept trying to muster up the courage to text her or talk to her at school. Every time I would try something I'd get scared and my brain would start screaming all of the things that could go wrong.

Finals were coming up and I was studying with Gale like crazy. We would often just fall asleep on the floor together in the living room or on his bed. My brother got out of the hospital but now he wasn't allowed to do anything remotely fun for like a month. I got that information when he texted me randomly one day. I had his number but we never talked unless he needed me to pick him up from somewhere or one of us needed a favor.

We talked for a little while and honestly it wasn't bad. It was nice to have some closure and know that although my brother was completely spoiled he wasn't a brat. I guess I never really got to know him enough to know him.

"I'm gonna have to go to work tomorrow so I probably won't be here when you wake up." I was helping Gale with laundry, folding it up and sorting it out.

"Alright that's fine. Bea and I have a date Sunday so that's exciting for me," He smiled and I returned it.

"Where are you going to go?"

"I don't know I was thinking the art gallery. She told me that she really loved art but she never had the time to go to the gallery." He folding a shirt and handed it to me.

"Just keep it down when you get back home, I'm not to fond of sex sounds." I joked.

"It's the first date Gwen!" He pushed me and laughed.

"Yeah yeah, well either way I hope you have lots of fun. I'm done with this laundry shit let's watch a movie or something." I said while putting clothes in the basket and walking to Gales room.

"Alright I'll find one."

We fell asleep a couple hours later while we watched Lilo and Stitch.

When I woke up, my alarm was going off right in my ear. I groaned and sat up before I turned the piercing sound off.

I got ready for work and left the apartment. I opened the cafe and got everything started for when everyone else got there and until a customer walked in to order something, I sat at the counter and scrolled on my phone.

"Hey Gwen!" Hailey, one of my coworkers, walked into the shop and waved with a smile.

"You're in a morning mood," I joked and she chuckled.

"Start your day out in a good mood and the rest of the day will be good too." She walked past me and went to set her things in a cubby in the back before walking back out to me.

"I like your necklace," She pointed to one of my crystal necklaces. "Where'd you get it?"

I picked it up to see which one she was talking about and recognized it to be one of the necklaces Lee got me.

"An friend got it for me as a gift." I half heartedly smiled and she nodded.

"It's really pretty!" She grinned before going about her usually duties.

After a bit, people started coming in and ordering and soon enough it was already 12:30. I checked my phone a couple times and saw that Storey was texting me about something Gale did. I rolled my eyes at the message and before I could answer there was a ding at the front door signaling that someone had come into the cafe.

I walked out and froze in my tracks. Lee and Edith were both standing in front of me on the opposite side of the counter. I frowned and locked eyes with Lee for a minute. She looked embarrassed but terrified at the same time.
