Narrator's Pov~

-

Gwen waiting impatiently for the bell to ring so she could leave her last class of the day. That morning Lee gave her her instagram and she's been waiting all day to get her phone since she accidentally left it in her car.

Finally the bell rang and she gathered her things together and was the first person out the door. She stuffed her things in her locker and walked right past Gale and Storey who followed her. Once she got to her car she eagerly unlocked the doors and grabbed her phone.

"Whoa, you're in a rush." Storey snorted.

"Yeah, um Lee and I are going to try to be nice to each other." Gale and Storey traded confused looks.

"What does that have to do with you power walking out of the school?" Gale raised an eyebrow.

"Oh, she gave me her instagram and I left my phone out here." Gale and Storey smirked at each other.

"What about Izzy?"

"What about her?.. OH! NO NO NO NO ITS NOT LIKE THAT!" Gwen panicked at the thought of talking to Lee romantically. Sure she was pretty, and her hair fell perfectly. And her eyes were like perfect..

Anyways..

"Okay whatever.." Storey rolled her eyes and walked over to the passenger seat of the keep and got in.

"Woah! What are you doing?"

"I need a ride home. Gale said he doesn't want to drive me home because I talk too much."

"I did not!" Gale retorted.

"Whatever. Storey, I'll drop you off at your place. Bye Gale love you,"

They all left and after Gwen dropped Storey off she went down the road to an ice cream shoppe where she met Izzy.

She waiting in the parking lot for about five minutes before Izzy's car pulled in beside her and she waved through her window.

They went in together and got a seat outside.

"So how are you?" Izzy smiled.

"I'm doing good, how about you?"

"I'm good, schools starting soon so I'll be a few hours away but I'm so exited!" Izzy said.

"I'm glad you got in, that's great. When school ends I don't know what I'm going to do. Stupid that I haven't been preparing." Gwen shook her head at herself.

"Aw it's okay, I was like that too when I got into senior year but it goes by and it's a lot easier than they put it out to be." Izzy reassured her. Izzy always had that bling to her. Everyone always liked her, she was nice to everyone, she was never a snobby kind of popular though.

"So Gales telling me about this girl, Lee. What kind of problems has she been causing?"

"Oh we're good now. We were kinda assholes to each other but we're good now.." Gwen said, licking her ice cream.

"Is she pretty?" Gwen's eyes widened and she tried to hide her slight blush but Izzy caught it.

"Uhm, yeah. I guess she is." She said making sure to look everywhere but at Izzy.

"Oh, so you like her?" She said teasingly.

"What?? No! No no no no! Not at all." Gwen said, the blush appearing more vibrantly now.

"Oh come on! You're totally blushing all over right now!" Izzy said laughing.

"Yeah, well she's like hardcore christian and won't even look at a gay person normally." Gwen said.

"She seemed to look at Gale pretty normally. Maybe she wasn't that nice to you because she thought you were cute." Izzy suggested. "Plus, Gale told me you guys kissed."

Gwen sighed and rolled her eyes.

"Damnit Gale," Izzy chuckled at her.

"Well, I don't mind. I think you're really pretty and I'd be surprised if she didn't at least find you attractive but I really only see us as a platonic relationship. The kiss we had was a really good kiss- you're an amazing kisser.. But really I love being friends with you." Gwen smiled and sighed out of relief. Realistically, she only went on this date because she thought something could possibly start between them but there was nothing romantic there.

"I'm so glad you said that. I genuinely asked you out when I was a little high and Storey was telling me I should've. I was going to tell you but you saved me the embarrassment." She said through a chuckle and ran her hand through her hair. Izzy gave her a sincere smile.

"I'm glad we feel the same. We can still stay on this date though, I want to finish my ice cream." She giggled.

They finished their date and separated, both being content with the friendzone.

Gwen got in her car and looked at her phone to see she had a message from Lee. She smiled although she didn't think of Lee as the person to text first.

Lee:
Hi!

Simple enough.

Gwen:
hey whats up!

Return the same energy.

Lee:
Omg I'm so glad you texted back it took me like an embarrassing amount of time to get the courage to send that lol

Gwen smiled at her message.

Gwen:
I'm the one who wanted to be able to hangout in the first place I never though you would've texted first

Lee:
Oh yeah do you want to hang out sometime?

Gwen:
Yeah we should go to the beach

-Each let's go get a wave they say, what they gonna say?

Lee:
That sounds good! When would you want to go?

Gwen:
Tomorrow if your open then

Lee:
Okay that sounds good!

Gwen put her phone on the middle console and drove back home.

The next day after school Lee and Gwen drove together in Gwen's jeep to the beach.

"Did you bring a bathing suit? I have an extra in the back if you didn't."

"Uh yeah I've got one, thanks." Gwen hummed a response and got her beach bag out of the back along with her bathing suit.

"You can get in the back and change, I'll look away." Lee climbed into the back seat of the jeep and came back out a few minutes ago with a floral bikini on.

Gwen usually just swam with a bikini underneath a large t-shirt.

They picnicked out on the sand and swam and talked to each other. It was surprising how much they had in common considering the fact that they hadn't talked in a civilized way in over six years.

"The sunset on the beach is like my favorite thing." Lee said, sitting up and looking out at the horizon. The golden hue of the sunset was beaming perfectly on her tan skin making her glow.

"You know you're really pretty." Gwen said as she pushed a stray hair behind her ear and looked at Lee.

Lee smiled at her and felt a heat rise in her cheeks.

"You are too," She replied softly.

They sat and stared at each other for a little while before Lee looked away at her feet that sat on the tye-dye towel sitting on the sand.

She couldn't do this. She would sit in her room and pray that this feeling would go away. She wouldn't give in to that feeling.

-

It pained me so much to not make them kiss. Anyways..
