Temptations

Chapter 29

Gwen's Pov~

"G. G wake up, we gotta get to school," I heard a voice say and felt my shoulders being shook lightly.

I groaned and reached for what I thought was Lee but when I opened my eyes I was disappointed to see Gale standing over me.

I quickly brought my hands back to myself and sat up from his gray futon.

Without a sound I got up and went to his bathroom, sitting on the toilet and bringing my knees to my chest.

This is going to be a long day.

I stood at my locker, just looking into it. I glanced at the neatly folded poster that I used to ask her to prom last Monday.

"Fuck." I muttered before taking a big book out of the locker and slamming it closed.

I started my walk to my first period class, focusing on getting there on time to keep my mind off of other things but if god is real he had other plans for me today.

Storey ran up and wrapped her arms around my neck.

"Oh, Gwen I'm so sorry, you didn't deserve that. That was such a shitty thing for Lee to have done to you." And there it was, the name I had been trying to avoid hearing or saying all morning.

"Kay. Bye." I pushed her off of me and hurried to my class.

I sat in the same spot I had been sitting in since the beginning of the year. In the back corner. I looked around a bit, finding Lee in the front. I tried not to look at her because I was sure she'd notice me staring at her but I couldn't. All throughout the class, all I thought about was whether she felt bad too.

After a miserably long class of just glancing at her and doodling on my desk just to erase it again, I stayed in the class until nobody else was in there only to walk out and find Lee standing by her locker, getting something out.

The urge to go up to her and ask if we could talk everything over almost overcame me but I fought it off and walked to my next class before I let my intrusive thoughts get the better of me.

After my next couple of classes went by, it was finally my lunch period that I shared with Storey.

We usually just sat on the soccer field behind the school and ate our food so I made my way to the back to wait for her.

The ground was soggy and wet so I sat over on a bench and opened my bag, digging through to find the food I packed when I saw the shorter blonde jogging up the small hill and waving to me.

She came and sat next to me with her lunch.

"Hey," She smiled at me and opened her own bag to get her food.

"Hey." I returned the smile but it dropped quicker than it appeared.

"You good? I know everything that happened-"

"No. I'm fine." I said, cutting her off before I could hear anything about my former girlfriend.

"You can come to prom with me and Gale. Neither of us had dates since the people were seeing are graduated so we were just going with each other."

Prom. I forgot all about it. Lee already ordered her dress and everything. I wonder if she's even going still.

"I don't know if I'll go." I said trying to stay as calm as I could.

"You should totally go. You didn't go junior year and you missed out a bunch so you're definitely going this year," She patted my shoulder and took a chip out of a bag. "I'll help you get a suit or a dress or whatever you want to wear."
