Narrator's Pov~

-

Gwen's family walked into the church but she stayed behind with Pastor Rick. She could feel her heart pounding in her chest as she watched her parents disappear through the two white doors.

She turned her head to him and tried to read his facial expression. He looked concerned but caring which made her even more nervous.

"So, I've been talking with Annalee and she recently told me about a problem of yours," Gwen felt her heart drop and although he paused to let her respond she couldn't bring herself to speak.

"Well, she told me you have had relations with other girls. I'm not mad, Gwendolyn so please don't get the wrong idea, but I need you to know that if you need help with anything I'm always right here for you to talk to."

Gwen forced the tears down and was able to muster up a fake smile and walked into the church while the choir was singing. She ran into the bathroom and immediately tears fell down her face. She couldn't bare the thought that Lee would tell anyone. But she couldn't expect anything else from her.

She sat on the bathroom floor and heard the door open and a few footsteps before they stopped.

"What's wrong with you?" She looked up through foggy eyes and saw Lee standing in front of her. She felt a wave of rage rush through her and she furrowed her eyebrows at the slightly shorter girl.

"What the hell is wrong with you Lee?? What the fuck did I do to you?" She yelled, trying to keep the tears back but failing miserably.

"I don't know what you're talking about." She seemed so calm and that made Gwen even more mad.

"Do you think I want to be like this? I wake up every day knowing that my mom and dad will never love me the way that they love my brother. I cant be any different."

"You made that choice, Gwen."

"It's not a fucking choice Lee! God what don't you get?? Get it through your thick fucking skull that I can't change! No matter how much help your uncle tries to offer me, I. Won't. Change."

"I don't understand why your upset. I tried to get you help just calm down."

"Does it look like what you did is helping me?? You told a pastor that I'm a lesbian!"

"I know that. It would help if you would  try to change, Gwen."

"What are you not getting? I'm not going to change Lee." She threw her hands to her side and wiped her now damp face with her bare arm. Lee stood in the middle of the bathroom and watched Gwen stand up.

"You could-"

"I'm done talking to you, Lee." Gwen said, walking past Lee.

She pushed through the front doors and got into the car to change her clothes before she walked around the block to a gas station. She sat down on the curb and called Gale who immediately picked up.

"Hey what's up?" He seemed like he was in a good mood.

"Can you come get me? I cant be here right now and I don't have my car." She said through a quaky voice.

"Yeah sure send me your location I'll leave now. What's wrong?"

"I'll tell you when you get here, thank you so much I love you." She said before hanging up. She sent him her location and sat waiting for 10 minutes before he pulled up and she got in his car.

He looked at her and it was obvious that she had been crying but she just looked out the window and acted like nothing was happening.

"So what? You want to stay at my place for a while or something? Was it your mom? What's wrong Gwen?" Gale questioned.

Gwen hesitated, she didn't want him to think it was dumb and think she was wasting his time. She was almost completely convince she was being overdramatic.

".. Um, Lee told her uncle, who's the pastor, that I'm lesbian. She obviously left out the part where we kissed but i'm sure in her head i forced that on her or something. I shouldn't be this upset over it, it's really not a big deal it just kinda feels like the whole 7th grade thing all over again I guess." She said.

"Oh. That sucks I'm really sorry Gwen."

"No it's fine. We should do something if you want. We can get something to eat and drive around or go picnic at the beach. I'll buy." Gale smiled at her and nodded.

"Yeah, we definitely can."

Gwen woke up in the back seat of Gales car and saw that he was also passed out in the front seat. They were on the beach and she guessed that they drank or smoked or something because she didn't remember much after swimming in their underwear.

She picked up her phone and saw that she had 8 missed calls from her mom.

"Oh shit. Shit shit shit shit shit. Gale. Gale! Wake up!" She pushed Gale's shoulder and he shot up.

"What! Fuck, Gwen you scared the shit out of me." He said rubbing his forehead.

"My mom has been calling me! I'm going to be in so much trouble dude."

They scurried around the car for a minute, Gale still being half asleep and not knowing what was even going on and where he was, (he's that oblivious) until they finally left and Gwen got dropped off at her house where she already knew everyone was up because the lights were on in the living room window.

She saved herself the embarrassment and walked straight into the front door, hearing footsteps running toward her and seeing her mom with a worried expression which barely lasted a full five seconds before it turned into an angry one.

"Where have you been? We had called you so many times why didn't you pick up?? And who dropped you off at the house? Was it a girl again? You know how I feel about you going with girls Gwendolyn." Of course this got turned into a conversation about her sexuality.

"God mom could you find something better to be mad at me about for once? You could've called more than 8 times. I was asleep, and no, the person that dropped me off was my friend Gale and guess what! He's also fucking gay. Get off of my back about the fact that you don't like that I sleep with girls!" Gwen shoved past her mom and ignored the looks she was getting from her brother and dad.

She ran upstairs and slammed the door to her bedroom, falling onto her bed. She wasn't upset that her mom was mad at her. If she was a mom she'd be upset that her kid just ran off without texting or calling or anything. She was mad that the topic of her potentially being in danger wasn't enough to shake off the fact that she was gay for her mother. She literally could have just escaped a kidnapper and her mom would still find a way to bring up her sexuality. Maybe that was why she was so upset about the pastor knowing. It's not like he was mean about it or anything. He seemed like he cared but who gives a shit if he cared, he didn't agree that she should love who she wanted and that's what hit her hard. It's exactly how her mom acts. She would throw a party if Gwen told her she had a boyfriend.

She rolled over and looked at the car tower where her little kitten was sleeping.

"You'll always love me, Ziggy." She sighed out and heard a knock at her door.

"Coming in," The door opened and her dad walked in.

"What." She asked in a blank tone.

"Hey kiddo, what's up with you?" He sat down on the edge of her bed awkwardly.

"Here to tell me to be easy on my mom?" She scoffed.

"Well, you did curse at her but that's not why I'm in here. I just wanted to see how you were doing."

"I'm.. Fine." She said, slowly. She was taken aback by his statement. It was out of the ordinary for her parents to actually check on her and ask her how she was doing.

"Well, I'm here if you need to talk. Just come to me." He said at last, patting her knee and getting up.

She just sat there after he left not knowing what to think. She couldn't tell if she wanted that or not. She was confused on whether she was happy about her dad showing that he cared or not.
