Chapter 24

Lee's Pov~

I woke up in an uncomfortable position and cuddled up to a pillow. I felt around the bed to find it empty. I groggily got up and took a sip of water than was on the bedside table and picked up a piece of paper that the glass was sitting on.

Hey baby sorry I left you alone in bed again :( I have work today so I won't be back until around 4pm. Sorry I couldn't help you prepare to see your brother but I'm sure everything will go great! Have an amazing day! <3

I aimlessly looked around the room and folded up the paper, putting it back onto the bedside table. I got off the bed, still wrapped in the comforter, pulling it off the bed as I walked to the living room.

The patio doors had light shining through them and so laid on the couch,
turning the tv on to watch something on disney+ for a bit.

I woke up again to the sound of knocking at the front door.

At first I slept through it, hearing it but choosing to ignore it. But then it got louder the second time and I realized it was probably later in the day by now.

I looked at the time on my phone and saw that it was 2:04pm along with multiple texts from my brother.

"Shit!" I jumped up and listened to the door knock a couple more times while I put clothes on that I didn't even know I took off.

I quickly did some light makeup and brushed my hair out, throwing it into a claw clip.

"Coming!!" I ran to the door and looked through the peep hole to see an unfamiliar face. I furrowed my brows and opened the door.

"Hi, can I help you?" I asked in a confused tone.

The girl that stood in front of me had gingerish hair and green eyes. She had pouty lips (not literally pouting) and she wore a smile. She looked about my age or maybe a year or two older. She genuinely looked like a rockstar right out of a 90's rock magazine.

"Hi! I'm Edith," She smiled at me and I reciprocated. "I'm your neighbor." She pointed to her door and I saw that the lived quite literally right next to us.

"Oh! It's nice to meet you!" I pointed to a box of something she was holding in front of her with a confused look on my face.

"Oh! Sorry, I completely forgot I had these," She laughed. "Cookies! I baked them!" She handed me the box and we continued to small talk for a bit.

"I've seen you and some other girl come in and out of the building sometimes. When I'm leaving or coming home. You're really pretty," She said and I smiled.

"Thank you! You are too! The other girl is my girlfriend," I chuckled to myself as I leaned on the doorframe. "She left for work just a little while ago so I've just been here all by my lonesome all day," I joked. She opened her mouth to speak but Carlo walked up behind her.

"Carlo! Hey come in! Sorry, Edith? Was it? I'm going out with my brother soon. You should definitely come over some time! We can talk a bunch more and get to know each other!" Edith nodded and smiled before turning to her apartment.

"Hey, sorry I didn't answer any texts, I just found my phone a little while ago," I lied as I closed the front door.

Carlo waved it off like it was nothing, "Don't worry about it. Ready to go?" He asked and I nodded.

"Yeah just left me get my purse." I said.

"Oh don't worry, I'm paying." He smiled.

"Yeah I just have makeup and my pepper spray in my bag so I'm just going to grab it." I smiled back and he gave me an embarrassed look.
