Thirty Five

SiMON's POV

I was going upstairs, carrying a strawberry shortcake in my hand that I bought from Vizcos. I was supposed to be with my brothers and Lex tonight but I prefer just to go to our house in Makati and surprise this girl for her birthday.

I slowly went to her room and saw that her door was open. She was facing her back at me while she was busy with her painting. Her shoulders moved as she took a deep breath. Then I noticed that she was staring at the night sky since her curtains and windows were open.

I lit the candles on her cake and softly knocked on her door to get her attention. She looked and smiled at me with confusion on her face.

She quickly ran towards me and asked:

Samantha: Si! W-what are you doing here?

Simon: Surprise?

Samantha: Anong meron?

Simon: I came to celebrate your birthday. Come on, make a wish.

She closes her eyes and makes a wish then she blows the candles.

Samantha: My birthday is in few days. Wait. How do you know about my birthday?

Simon: Can I come in so we could talk?

Samantha: Yeah, of course. This is your house, Si.

Simon: My parents' house.

Samantha: Right, I know.

Simon: Should I get you a slice?

Samantha: Yes, please!

Simon: I also bring a bottle of wine. Drink a glass with me.

Samantha: I'd love to but you haven't answered my question.

Simon: Come on, try this first.

I handed her a slice of cake and she took a bite.

Samantha: Uhmm! Ang sarap! This will be my new favorite!

Simon: Do you like strawberries?

Samantha: I do yes!

Simon: Glad you like it. Here, cheers!

She immediately took a sip and I stopped her from drinking the whole glass.

Simon: Slow down! Hindi yan tubig.

Samantha: I feel like drinking, this is good.

Simon: Advance happy birthday, Sammy!

Samantha: Thank you so much, Si.

Simon: I may not be here on the day of your birthday, that's why I'm here to celebrate it in advance.

Samantha: I appreciate it.

Simon: I hope I make you happy, kahit ngayon lang.

Samantha: Of course you do.

Simon: I got the information from the University.

Samantha: What do you mean?

Her face brightens up and looks at me with hope in her eyes.

Simon: I got the date of your birthday from the University. I don't wanna ruin this moment, but I don't get much of your details. Every student's information is confidential. I'm sorry, Sammy. I can't be much of a help.
