Sixty One

SAMANTHA's POV

Saan na ba nagpunta yun? Did he leave already? I've been searching for him kanina pa pero hindi ko sya makita. Obviously, I make him upset kaya sya nag-walk out.

Samantha: Damn it!

I cursed under my breath. Hindi na rin ako babalik sa conference room dahil nawalan na rin ako ng gana. Kahit gusto ko pa sanang makipagkwentuhan kila Simon pero mas importante na mahanap ko si Sandro.

I just went back to my office para sana magpahinga. But to my surprise, Sandro was there sitting on my chair with his eyes closed. He looks like he was resting. I carefully shut the door and watch him from afar. I couldn't stop staring at his face, ang gwapo talaga. His adam's apple also caught my attention when I saw him gulp.

I was about to take a deep breath but then I was startled when he spoke.

Sandro: What took you so long?

He's mad. He sounds a bit irritated but also worried.

Samantha: I was... I was actually looking for you. Hindi ko alam na dito ka pumunta.

Sandro: Saan naman ako pupunta?

Samantha: I thought you... left already?

Sandro: Bakit naman ako aalis?

Samantha: Coz... I make you mad?

Sandro: You think so?

Samantha: Sandro.

Sandro: What happened there, Emerald?

His voice softens when he called my pet name.

Samantha: Can we talk about this later?

Sandro: I have all the time right now.

Samantha: But were in the office right now. Mas maganda siguro kung-

Sandro: I'm listening.

Samantha: I promise to-

Sandro: I'm listening.

Samantha: Fine.

I took a deep breath and met his stares. I was standing in front of him like a child na handang mapagalitan at any time.

Samantha: They know nothing about us. No one in my family.

Sandro: So as mine. What's the problem with that?

Samantha: Hindi nila pwede malaman.

Sandro: Bakit?

Samantha: My lolo gave me the freedom that I wanted but... he forbids me to be with you. He ask me to... stay away from you. He asked that favor in exchange.

He's not taking his eyes off me but then he took a deep breath and rested his body on the seat. I can't read his mind. I know for sure, he didn't expect this. He just remained silent while he look me in the eyes.

Samantha: I'm... i'm sorry. Please say something.

Sandro: Pero lumapit ka pa rin sakin. Pinuntahan mo pa rin ako. So this is the reason why... why you stopped me from seeing your grandfather.

Samantha: I know it's my fault. Whatever happens, I just wanted to still hold your hand kahit na... kahit hindi pwede. I promise myself that I will never ever let you go. Ayoko nang mahiwalay sayo. Ayoko na ng mag-isa. I will fight for you.
