MARCUS' POV

The house is dim and quiet. Most likely this time, tulog na ang mga tao.

I look back at my grandfather's office and saw the door left slightly open. Bukas pa ang ilaw. I was hesitant at first but I found my self walking towards the door.

Don Leon was talking seriously to someone.

So it was my dad talking to Don Leon.

Leon: So tell me, anong nangyari?

Bernard: It was successful at first.

Leon: So it failed?

Bernard: I didn't expect that Marcus will be there.

Leon: Marcus? Anong kinalaman ng anak mo don?

Bernard: He helped the guy na ayusin ang problema.

Sino bang pinag-uusapan nila? Bakit nadawit ang pangalan ko? I helped who? Wala naman akong ibang tinulungan na tao maliban kay... no fcking way. Are they talking about Sandro's issue sa Ilocos? May kinalaman ba sila sa nangyari?

Now my curiosity is killing me.

Leon: If the first move didn't work then try harder.

Bernard: I already contacted someone. She said she'll do it. Her mom is sick kaya wala syang dahilan para tumanggi.

Leon: I'm not interested kung sino man ang kausap mong yan. You better not fail this time. Ayusin mo ang trabaho mo.

Bernard: Yes, papá.

Leon: It's too early to use the last card dahil nagsisimula palang tayo. So we better think of all possible and better reason to break their trust to each other.

Break their trust to each other? What does he mean by that?

Leon: Do everything you can. I just don't want that guy to be connected to my unica hija.

Bernard: I'll see what I can do, papá.

I never heard them talk like this. And in my years of existence, hindi ko sila nakilala na ganito.

The farthest the distance the better.

I was about to turn my back and leave the place pero sakto naman ang pagtunog ng cellphone ko.

Gahd, damn it!

Bernard: Marcus?!

Agad akong lumingon at nagkunyaring may kausap ako sa cellphone.

"Yeah, nakauwi na ako. I'll see you tomorrow."
