The teens had snuck out of Nancy's window just before Karen came looking for Nancy. They all decided to take Jonathan's car to go get 'monster hunting supplies'. The trio went to the army surplus store downtown to find various weapons, ammo, and other little things that seemed like they'd come in handy when fighting a flower-like, faceless monster from another dimension. They were rummaging through the isles looking for anything and everything that looked useful. The store had a 30% off sale so, at least it was somewhat more affordable for the broke teenagers. Jonathan and Jenna eventually worked their way to the isle Nancy was in, leading to their simultaneous discovery of the bear traps.
"Looks like it would do at least some damage," Jenna examined, "Let's buy it. My treat!"
Nancy emptied the contents of her shopping basket onto the counter for the cashier to ring up. They had gathered nails, lighter fluid, gasoline, the bear trap, metal steaks, a mallet or two, and Jenna's lucky find of a hunting knife.
"And I'll have four boxes of the .38s," Jonathan told the cashier who was looking between the three teens like they each had 4 heads or something.
He reluctantly grabbed the boxes and hesitantly asked, "What you kids doin' with all this?"
Nancy and Jonathan looked between each other, coming up with no response that sounded reasonable.
"Monster hunting," Jenna calmly shrugged, "You know, it's a fun hobby. I highly recommend."
Her statement caused Nancy and Jonathan to look over at Jenna with relief and disbelief at the same time. The cashier nodded at Jenna, sighed, then rang up their supplies, in turn, draining Jenna's bank account of all her saved up babysitting money.
Jenna, Jonathan, and Nancy carried the supplies back out to Jon's car, happy with their purchase.
"'Monster hunting?" Jon chuckled a bit while glancing back at Jenna, "That was the best you had."
"I mean," She pursed her lips, "It is technically true. Plus, it's not like you two could come up with anything better. You were standing there like two deer in headlights."
"True," Jon smiled at the girls.
"You know," Nancy started to say, "Last week... I was shopping for a new top I thought Steve might like. It took me and Barb all weekend. It seemed like life or death, you know? And... and now..."
"You're shopping for bear traps with Jonathan Byers and Jenna Henderson," Jon looked up at her while he finished loading up his trunk.
"Yeah," Nancy sighed.
"What's the weirdest part?" He closed the trunk and placed his elbow down on it, "Jen and I or the bear traps?"
"You two," She giggled, "Definitely you two."
All three of them started to laugh at the absurdity of their entire situation. Their little, happy moment was cut short, though, by a kid from their school driving by. He honked at them and yelled, "Hey, Nance and Jen! Can't wait to see your movie."
"What the hell was that?" Jon flicked his gaze between the two girls and the car.
"I don't know," Nancy looked down the street, hoping to see what the guy was talking about.
Jenna had already started walking down towards the movie theater out of curiosity with Nancy following close behind.
Jonathan ran after the two, yelling, "Hey guys! Wait up! Where are you guys going?"
When they got to the theater, they looked up at the marquee to see the title All the Right Moves with Starring Nancy the Slut Wheeler and Featuring Jenna the Whore Henderson written in red spray paint right beneath. Nancy looked like she was about to cry while Jenna looked like she was ready to punch the first sucker who looked at her first wrong.
Wait a sec... I know exactly who did this. That fucking asshole!
~
Jenna heard laughing from down the alleyway right next to the theater. She power walked down there to find none other than Steve, Tommy, Carol, and Nicole. Tommy was holding the spray paint and messing around. Jenna hauled ass down the alleyway which caused everyone to look up at her.
I fucking knew it!
