BEEP!

I don't wanna get up...

BEEP!

Just leave me alone and let me sleep.

BEEP!

I swear to god I'm going to murder that fucking alarm clock.

Jenna slammed her hand down on her alarm clock, silencing the horrible noise that she considered one of her worst enemies. If she could function properly without it, she would throw it in the landfill in a heartbeat. She sprang from her bed, stretching before making her way down the hall to the bathroom so she could examine how rough she looked. Her hair looked like a raccoon burrowed in it while her under eyes looked like they could hold an entire family of four's luggage for a vacation.

She grabbed her brush from her drawer and went to town brushing through all of the knots that twisted and tangled in her hair. After she got as many of the knots out as she could, she shedded her pajamas to the floor near the bathtub and hopped in the shower. Cold water cascaded down her body and provided an instant calming effect she'd grown to love. Hot showers were always nice, but cold showers were even better; especially in the mornings after one of her drinking binges. She peeked an arm out of the curtain and clicked on the radio that she moved into there just for her morning showers. Luckily for her, Dustin hadn't changed the channel for once. She danced around and sang along as AC/DC blasted throughout the bathroom. Her fingers ran through her still semi-knotted hair, frothing up sudsy bubbles with her strawberry shampoo. Steve always made fun of the fact that she smelled like a strawberry smoothie, but he knew he had no right to poke fun at her seeing as he had a very strict hair care routine himself that finished off with a generous amount of Farrah Fawcett spray. Tilting her head back, she rinsed out the shampoo and coated her face with the icy water, trying to feel a sense of peace before her already dreaded day at school. She lathered her hair up with her matching strawberry conditioner then proceeded to scrub her body with some body wash and a loofa. She quickly rinsed herself off, turned off the cold stream of water, and grabbed her towel off the rack on the door.

She dried herself off and squeezed out her hair to the best of her abilities, scrunching it up so she wouldn't lose her curls. She wrapped the towel around her body and danced down the hall into her room with her radio in hand. Her clothes were conveniently laid out in her laundry basket that she hadn't put in her dresser yet. She randomly grabbed a Led Zeppelin shirt, a pair of jeans, red Converse high tops from next to her door, and topped the look off with her favorite grey jacket that she'd stolen from her best friend two years prior. He'd outgrown it, so Jenna took the opportunity to snatch it for herself. She adored the jacket with every fiber of her being. It was the most comfortable jacket she owned and was a piece of her best friend that she would always have close to her. She didn't care that it was starting to fall apart on her from being worn so heavily by both Steve and herself, there was zero chance in getting her to take it off.

Once situating herself out and drying her hair one more time, she scooted out of her bedroom and into the kitchen.
"Good morning my sweets!" Her mom greeted, "Sorry about being late last night, book club ran late."
"Mom everything was fine and remember, you're the adult," Jenna poured herself a glass of orange juice, taking a sip, "You don't have to apologize to me for actually going out and having your well deserved fun. It's not like you have much time for yourself."
"I know, but I just feel bad leaving you and Dusty home by yourselves at night."
"Mom, like I said before, it's okay. Dustin and I can handle ourselves."
"You two are growing up way too fast," Claudia pouted, "I can't believe my babies are almost adults."
