As I take my seat next to the window on the plane and watch the boys sit in the isle seats I frown knowing that I would be sitting next to a stranger this whole flight. I’m somewhat glad however that I would not have to speak to Luke for the next hour and a half flight. An overweight man in a suit holding what I assume a laptop in a carrier bag stops and read the number on his ticket. Please, please, please don’t sit next to me I think to myself.
“Is this D7,” he merely grunts at me.
“Yeah it is,” I sigh.
The man scoots in beside me and I crinkle my nose as a waft of body odor and whiskey hits my nose. What I would do to be sitting next to Luke right now, smelling his usual cologne that he always wears. I look over at him and he is frowning as he can tell I wasn’t comfortable in were I was sitting then our eyes meet. His eyes are sad and he mouths, ‘sorry’ to me. I forgot that I was mad at him and cruelly look away and advert my gaze to the back of the chair in front of me. The cabin crew goes through the usual routine of telling us were the exits were and how to inflate our safety jacket incase of an emergency as we take off. I always liked taking off; it always made my back tingle like we were on a ride at an amusement park.
The hour and a half flight went by faster than I assume and I hear the pilot announce we had arrived in Sydney and I groan to myself knowing that I would have to talk to Luke and the others. I don’t know if I’m a coward but talking to someone first after an argument or causing a scene is shit. We all grab our hand luggage and make our way through the airplane towards the airport.
Gina, Jessie and the rest of the boys lead the way and I follow behind them, I hear someone walking beside me expecting it to be Luke or one of the boys but I look and it was a tall blonde boy with dark blue eyes smiling at me. He must have been the same age as Beau.
“Good flight?” he smiles showing his straight white teeth.
I look around making sure he was talking to me. Realizing he was I look at him and gulp “yeah, it was okay.” I say nervously, why was this god like boy talking to me?
“Sure it was, you were sitting next to a fat oaf” he grins, I giggle but I feel a man briskly brush in between us and march past, mutting profanities under his breath.
“Oh my god, that was him.” I whisper looking at the boy.
“Shit” he mutts. We look at each other for a few moments then burst out laughing. After a moment of laughing I could see Luke had stopped and was waiting for me.
“Who’s this?” he grumbles, obviously pissed off.
“I’m Corey, I sat behind her in the plane” the blonde boy said referring to me as her as he didn’t know my name. I didn’t even know his name until then.
“Okay,” he spits, “what’s so funny Rach?” he says glaring at me. Argh, can you not be such a dick Luke, seriously.
I stop giggling about the incident with the fat businessman, “don’t worry you wouldn’t understand” I spit back at him.
