I Think I Like You

Leaning back on the kitchen bench Luke came up to me and leaned both hands either side of me on the bench. I draped my hands behind his neck and looked into his eyes. He leans down over me, leaning in and places a soft kiss on my lips and pulls back and smiles. I smile back and let out a quiet giggle.

“I’m glad you are coming tonight,” he whispers.

“Why’s that?” I ask cheekily.

“Other than you being really pretty and cute,“ he stops in mid sentence and leans in closer to my face so that his lips where only millimeters away from mine, I can feel his breath on my lips and the smell off his cologne on his collar of his shirt whilst looking into his dark brown eyes. He quietly whispers, “I think I like you.”

My stomach did a flip and goose bumps appeared all over my arms and legs. I felt myself starting to blush and I looked away from his eyes and down at my feet. His lips were still closer than ever and I was just about to kiss him when I start to hear Jai screeching my name down the hall.

“Rach, Rach!” I hear him yelling down the hall. He walks in with Luke standing over me on the bench only millimeters away from my face. “Get a room, seriously!”

Luke pulls away from my face, looking into my eyes with disappointment and glaring at Jai. He stands next to me on the bench and I can feel that I’m still quite flustered

“Could you help my Mum, something, uhh…. happened” he laughs.

“Uh.. okay” I say.

 “She’s just in her room” Jai says. He turns around and walks of to her room. I turn to Luke and grab his hand gently and weave my finger in between his. He puts a halfhearted smile on and walks me through the hall to his Mums room. Beau and Jai were sitting on the end of the bed contain giggles whilst Gina was sitting on the floor in front of a mirror plucking at her eyebrows. Luke leaves my side and goes and sits on the bed beside Jai.

“Is everything okay?” I ask. Gina quickly turns hearing my voice and I see that she has waxed half her right eyebrow off.

“No” she whimpers, pointing at her eyebrow. I hear Jai and Beau giggle and Gina glares at them.

“Wow” I say, “have you got an eyebrow pencil?”

“No, I don’t usually do this, but.. uhh”

“Aunt Jenna, Mums sisters going to be there” Beau interrupts rudely.

“Hey, shh you!” Gina says sternly.

“Luke, could you get my bag. I’ve got my eyebrow pencil in there”

He nods and quickly walks out of the room. I go and sit beside Gina and look at her eyebrow.

“Nothing I can’t fix” I smile

She gently picks one of my curls off my shoulder and smiles, “How’d you do your hair like that, I swear I saw you with straight hair before”

I laugh, “Just a bit of magic and a hair straightener. Its pretty easy, I’ll teach you one day”

“You should do her hair as well” Jai says, “it didn’t take you that long to do yours”

I smile, “If you want me to.”

Luke comes in and places my bag next to me then stands near the bed. I grab out my make up back and find my eyebrow pencil. I quickly smooth over her eyebrow with the eyebrow brush and pencil in were there was no hair. I quickly brush and pencil the other. I lean back to check they were even and sigh, “There you are, good as new”

Gina looked into the mirror and admired her eyebrows and smiled to me, “Thanks so much Rachel, you are a life saver.” She stands up and stretches. Luke walks over and holds his hand out to help me up. I grab it and he heaves me up with ease. Gina looks at me and says, “Now do you mind if you can do my hair.”

I nod and smile, “No problems”

“uh Mum, its like ten minutes to seven, we are going to be late!” Beau says sternly.

She sighs checking the time on the clock that was on her bedside table.

“Its okay Mum, us boys can go and tell them you are going to be a bit late.” Jai says reassuringly.

Gina smiles, “that’ll be great love!”

Beau and Jai walk up to their Mum and kiss her on the cheek and Luke does the same. Luke then walks up to me and kisses me on the cheek and then Jai jokingly comes up and does the same. I hear Jai and Gina laugh and I let out a little giggle. Beau suddenly walks up and gives me a kiss on the cheek. However instead of being on the side of my cheek like Luke and Jai’s was he decided to push the barriers and kiss me half on the lips half on the cheek. I see him smirk and walk out of the room. I look at Luke and he had the same expression on his face like he had earlier today when he saw Beau kissing Mia. Jai pats his shoulder and mutts something to him and Luke nods.

“Did Beau just..” Gina questions.

“..Yep.” Jai says stunned.

I see Gina scrunch her eyebrows and sigh, “Luke, just ignore him.”

Luke rolls his shoulders and lets out a sigh. Jai and Luke both leave the room slowly with Luke sulking and I look at Gina.

“I’m just going to go make sure Luke is okay,”

“Sure thing honey” She smiles at me, “I’ll be waiting in the bathroom”

“Okay, just heat up the straightener for me” I smile back.

I walk down the hall and I catch up to them. “Luke! Luke”

He turns around and half-heartedly smiles and slowly walks to see me.

“Don’t worry Luke, just ignore him okay” I say quietly, making sure Jai can’t hear.

“I know,” he says, “its just really annoys me, he did that on purpose!”

“I know babe,” I say wrapping my arms around his body and he wraps his arms around my neck leaning his chin on my head. I could tell he needed a hug by the way he held me tighter then he hade ever before.

“Better not leave the boys waiting”

“Urgh,” he says pulling away from the hug, “I guess”

“See you soon” I say

“yeah, see you soon” he says half heartedly turning to go walk out the door.

I then remembered what I hadn’t said before Jai had rudely interrupted me in the kitchen. “Luke”

“yeah?” he says turning around.

I quickly walk up to him and stand on my tippy toes and whisper in his ear, “I think I like you to”
