"you can forget being apart of our friend group. hell, you can forget we were ever friends!" i watched as nick only made himself angrier with his words. he felt betrayed, and i didn't blame him.
"i understand..." i looked back down to my shoes and fiddled with my shakey fingers. "but nick, i'm so sorry." and something about him changed after that.

the atmosphere shifted and as i turned to look up at him he looked different. his face was no longer in a scowl, instead his eyes were screaming for a hug but i knew i was in no position to be the person to do so. i had failed nick, just like i had failed mickey and all the other boys.
"why would you do this hunter?"
"i really like him nick..." i sighed.
"but... him?"
"he's different with to me how he is with you."
"and you're fine with being with someone who treats your friends like shit?"

"no! of course i'm fucking not. lionel needs to change i've told him that. why do you think he didn't fight mickey last week?" i stood up, facing nick daringly. he was so close to giving in and hugging me, i could tell. i watched his mouth open, and then close. almost as if he didn't know how he could possibly respond to that.
"listen to me nick, i promise i never wanted to hurt you or any of our friends. i'm sorry if you feel betrayed, i'm sorry if you feel offended but... i really like lionel."
my eyes followed nick as he begun to facepalm. "fuck, hunter..." he whispered, in defeat.

"i'm sorry."
he looked back up at me, "i know you are."
"so, can you forgive me?"
"i-... i'll accept it but i sure as hell won't support it until i see lionel acting like a decent human being." nick responded, and i was happy with that. happier than ever.

i smiled brightly at his words and instantly pulled my bestfriend into a hug. "thanks for being such a good friend." i mumbled into his shoulder.
"yeah, i am aren't i?" he laughed, and i pulled away to roll my eyes playfully at him.

"but hunter, what are you gonna tell mickey?"
and the question left me shook, as i had absolutely no idea. instead, i chose to look at the bright side. i had now told two of my friends, leaving only three to go. i didn't really care what anyone else thought of lionel and i.
"i don't know."

me and lionel were currently walking back to his house after school, and i was telling him about how i was going cormac's house later.
"no." he said simply, and i rolled my eyes at him.
"i wasn't asking for permission, mate."
"one; don't call me mate. two; i want you to stay with me." he grinned at me, and i blushed back at him with a chuckle.
"you always want me to stay with you, but unfortunately you're not the only person in my life. i'll only be a few hours."
"a few hours? what am i supposed to do without you?" he frowned, and i scoffed playfully, "you'll live."

it was almost five pm after lionel and me had been chilling at his house for a few hours or so. i knew it was time for me to start heading to cormac's house to meet clare.
"i should probably head out now." i stated, climbing up from his lap to brush myself off.
"but we were comfy." he pouted. i chuckled at his face but started heading for the door anyway.

"well hold up!" he said while urgently getting up to his feet. i turned towards him to find him walking towards me rather quickly. he wordlessly snaked his arms around my waist and pulled me close. i stared back at him, smiling dumbly as his face came closer and closer to mine.

his lips grazed upon mine before i gave in and kissed him back passionately. my hands traced up his back at tugged in his hair, then sure enough he moaned as i pushed my tongue into his throat. "fuck." i heard him groan into my mouth, which only made me flush further.

my tongue retreated and i separated our lips hesitantly. "i have to go." i breathed, and he shook his head in disagreement.
"no."
"bye lionel." i grinned at him before unapologetically strolling out the door and not looking back.

now, because of lionel, i was late to meeting at cormac's. i sprinted awkwardly down the pavement and made my way quickly to his house.

knocking on the door, i heard multiple voices talking loudly from inside the building and i couldn't help but feel slightly nervous. what if nick told the rest of them about lionel and i? would he really do that?

"hunter! my man!" mickey answered the door. well, clearly cormac hasn't said anything then.
"hi lad!" i smiled back at him, entering the crowded house while doing so. mickey les me through the hallway and into the living room where all my friends were. then, i saw an unfamiliar girl sitting comfortably on cormac's lap on one of the couch's.
"hunter! hey!" they all greeted me after mickey showed me into the room. i caught nick's eyes and showed him a comfortable smile before turning to approach cormac and his girlfriend.

i extended a fist bump for clare, "hi i'm hunter." and i watched her complete the gesture while smiling — showing off her pearly whites in the process.
"nice to meet you! my name's clare." she smiled, flicking her blonde hair off her shoulder carelessly.
"trust me, i know. cormac doesn't seem to shut up about you."
i watched cormac's face flush red, "oh fuck off."
"babe! that's so cute." she squished their cheek's together and then kissed him on the forehead rather mother-like. i couldn't help but cringe. thank god lionel and i weren't like that.

after we chatted for a bit, i moved on to sit besides freddie and isaac. "yo lads." i spoke.
"hello hunter! how are you?" isaac grinned to me.
"hi hunts."
"i'm alright, how are you guys?" i asked the two of them.
"i'm good." isaac responded.
"yeah i'm alright too." freddie spoke before taking a swig of his beer.

"where can i get a drink around here?" i laughed, standing back up from the couch to adventure into the kitchen. shortly after, i heard freddie coming in behind me. after grabbing a can of cider out the fridge, i turned to face the boy.
"you alright?"
"i'm worried about you. what are you going to do about your dad?" and the question rang through my ears uncomfortably. i had no clue what i was going to do about my father. its not like i could live at lionel's forever, living with my dad was my home. i knew i'd have to return their eventually.

"i don't know freddie." i responded with a shrug.
"you're always welcome to stay at mine, you know." he said, "although i believe you already have that bit covered, ay?" and then smirked at me. i held in a laugh while feeling my cheeks turn pink.
"i suppose so." i couldn't help but chuckle, covering my laughter while taking a sip of my alcohol.

"he really cares about you doesn't he?" mentioned freddie, and his words made me smile to myself.
"yeah. i guess he does, huh."
