lionel, myself and alex were all on our way to mari's house for the party. i didn't really speak to alex much but i knew if lio was going to make an effort with my friends it was only fair i do the same.
"so alex," i begun, then both of the tall boys looked at me. "you like parties? i haven't seen you at any before."
the boy stared at me momentarily and a part of me assumed he wasn't even going to answer until i watched lionel nudge him in the side rather irritatingly, "i hate parties." alex sighed.
"but you're coming to this one?" i asked.
the boy glared at me, "well, yes. lio asked me to."
i smirked, "you do everything lionel asks of you? wow, you really are a lap dog, huh?" in my defence, this was supposed to be a lighthearted joke. although it seems alexander didn't take it as a joke at all...
i watched alexander stop walking, and i also stopped in-front of him.
"why must you keep saying that?" he spat before turning to lionel who was standing behind me, "and why must you choose such irritating people to date?"
"he's a good kisser." lionel responded smoothly and i gave him a jokey side eye.
"whatever." alex huffed before pushing past me, and i almost fell backwards by the force of his body colliding with mine.
"come on guys, let's just go get drunk, ay?" lionel encouraged, but i was on a mission. i was convinced i was going to win this guy over, even if we had to fight a little first.
"no no, if alex has something to say he should say it."
"i don't have anything to say." he continued walking on, and i picked up my pace so i was beside him. lionel followed us behind, clearly not that invested in our quarrel.
"if anything, i'd think you have a little crush on lionel. that's why you listen to his every word like a lost puppy." i whispered to his ear and looked down to see his knuckles clench.
"shut your mouth." he growled back to me, "lio can i go now? your bitch is pissing me off."
okay. hold up.
"his bitch? i'm not his fucking bitch." i paused, my furious eyes flickering between the two.
"okay— he didn't mean that." lionel butted in, placing a hand on my chest.
"yes. i did."
and i could barely stop myself from jumping at the rude boy, but i know that wouldn't end well for me. alex would snap me like a twig and i bloody well knew it.
i thought if i could anger alex enough it'd just turn into a joke between the two of us. i now know that was stupid. alexander is a stuck up asshole. he's perfect for lionel, truthfully.
"whatever, i'm going to the party. fuck you guys." i spat before pushing past the two of them and making my way towards mari's house. i listened for footsteps behind me, but there was nothing. i guess lionel chose to not follow me...
marianna's house was just around the corner and as soon as i arrived my first mission was to get a beer in my hand.
"hunts!" i heard a loud voice shout from behind me. i turned, taking a swig of my beer in the process. there i met jacob, smiling like a drunken fool.
i grinned at the sight of his flushed cheeks and hazy eyes, "hey jake, didn't know you were coming." jacob was a hilarious drunk.
"of course i am! gotta support mari and her need for partying. here, lets go dance!" jacob grabbed onto my freehand and brought me into the living room where many people danced to the loud disco music. we moulded into the crowd and i quickly finished off my beer as jacob grabbed me by my side and swung me round like a doll. i laughed loudly, squeezing my eyes shut at the feeling of dizziness crowding my mind.
i can't remember how long jake and i were dancing, all i know is that it went on for a long time and it was hilarious. dancing with a drunk person was like playing pool with a rope. it was merely impossible but funny nonetheless.
an hour passed and i had relocated out to the garden with another beer in hand. this must've been my sixth one, maybe? i was sitting cross legged on the grass listening to the faint music from the house. my mind was pounding and i suddenly remembered the downside of partying.
"huntley?" lionel. great.
"what are you doing here?" i mumbled. "you didn't even want to come to this stupid party."
"i thought you wanted me to come." he said, walking in front of me and stopping when i could see him clearly.
"i did." i coughed, but covered it by taking another sip of alcohol.
lionel bent down to his knees, "i think you've had enough." he went to grab the bottle from me and i just stared as he did so. i let him take it and chuck it on the grass alongside us.
"where's your boyfriend?" i scoffed in a bored manner.
"i'm with him."
i leant back and laid on the grass. "no no, i mean your other boyfriend. alexander the great." the floor was wet and i felt my back and hair get cold almost instantly.
lionel chuckled, "don't be daft, love." and he placed the back of his hand on my forehead.
"come on, let me take you home."
i flicked his hand away. "i don't want to go home."
"huntley." he said warningly, "get up."
"no."
"love—"
"no." i knew i was being stubborn, but i didn't want to go home. i didn't want to deal with my stupid dad giving me a stupid lecture as soon as i walked through the stupid door.
"huntley. don't be a bitch."
my eyes furrowed at him, "can everyone stop calling me a bitch!" i flailed my arms up like a whiney toddler. maybe lionel would get bored of me and leave me here to drown in my sorrows.
instead, he picked me up by my waist and forcefully swung me over his shoulder. my head smashed into his back as i felt him begin walking. "lionel— put me down! what the fuck!"
"i'm taking you home." he said firmly, and i whacked his back with my balled fists.
"no, no! my dad he— he'll get so pissed." then lionel sighed in defeat, and i knew i wasn't going home.
we didn't speak anymore words till we got back to his house. and as soon as we entered the familiar home, i passed out.
