i hadn't spoken to lionel since the fight, since he hadn't tried to contact me once. i was still reasonably mad at him for going through with the it in the first place, but i'd be happy with a fucking apology. lionel clearly isn't too bothered we aren't on good terms so that's that. when he wants to talk to me, he will.

in the time that lionel and i hadn't been speaking, i decided i wanted to make it my mission to get freddie to talk to me. i don't necessarily plan on pushing our friendship to be okay again, but i want him to hear my side. after all, lionel and i have been involved for weeks and freddie never voiced a problem with it. yet now he's super scared it will tear the group apart? grow up.

okay maybe i wasn't ready to fix things with freddie just yet.

but i still had other things to focus on that didn't revolve around toxic friends or my love life. my dad and i hadn't really done anything together since the whole 'hiring a doctor to turn me straight' thing. i'm honestly over it now. he was stupid to think that'd work, but he knows that now so i don't have to worry about it happening ever again.

on this sunday morning, i woke up knowing i wanted to spend the day with my dad. after all, he is my dad.

i crawled out of my cozy bed and begun undressing myself. while picking out and outfit, i thought of what me and my dad could do today. we could always resort to the classic bowling bonding if i couldn't think of anything better by the time i got downstairs.

my clothes consisted of a cream hoodie, grey baggy sweatpants and black and white checked vans to finish it all toegther. i ruffled my hair about but didn't bother doing anything further and moved to the bathroom to wash my face and teeth.

after i was finished getting ready, i made my way downstairs and searched the ground floor for my father.
"hi dad." i spoke after finding him sitting on the couch while reading a magazine.
he looked up and instantly smiled, "hey huntley." he said. i cringed at the name.
"wanna go do something today? maybe bowling?" i asked him, and he nodded eagery before slamming his magazine shut and chucking it on the sofa where he was previously sitting.

"when are you ready?"
"how about now?" i asked, picking up my phone and slouching it in my pocket, "you're paying." and my dad gave me a cheeky grin but didn't protest.

we got in his car and i was in the passenger seat while my dad was driving. i took the opportunity to grab my phone and check my messages. instantly, i clicked on his chat.

lionel<3
**no new messages**

sigh. whatever. i read over my new messages, that were all either from cormac or nick but i didn't bother reading them. i only wanted him.

"so, how's your boyfriend?" and i cringed at his question. i know he's just trying to be more supportive now, but this really isn't the time to ask me about lionel...
"lionel, dad. his name is lionel for gods sake." i face palmed, but chuckled at the end of my words so father knew i didn't actually mind that much. "but he's fine, thanks."
"just fine?"
he really wasn't giving up, was he? "we're in a rough patch, if you must know."
"whys that?" my father asked in the most neutral tone he could make.

"i think he cares more about his reputation than me."
i watched my dads curious eyebrows raise unsettlingly, "what do you mean by that?"
"he fought one of my best friends today, to keep his image up of being the big scary lion of the school. he knew i didn't want him to do it, but he did it anyway. now i'm mad and he hasn't even tried to contact me once."
"well when was the fight?—"
"wednesday. it's now sunday, if you didn't know." i spat, tensing my fist.

"calm down huntley." my dad mumbled awkwardly, "listen, you can't control nor can you change people. if lionel wants to he feared by the school then thats what he wants, you can't order him to not do it. it's not up to you, son." and i knew my dad was right, i just didn't want to admit it.

fuck, i knew i wanted lionel to be a nice, loveable person to my friends but i knew him and mickey would never be at that stage. the sooner i accept that, the better. fuck, i hate this. why is love so difficult?

wait, love?
