"took you long enough." he scoffed at me before taking a few steps towards me. i tilted my head up at him,
"no, thats not what this is... no... just— why did you do that?!" i burst, slamming my eyes shut in embarrassment. why did i have to be so fucking awkward?
he grinned, folding his arms in front of me, "do what, huntley?"
"you know what. you won't even look at me! you're doing this on purpose to get into my head or something—"
"is it working?"
my eyes widened, "no!" although i knew that may not be the truth...
"hmm, okay." he didn't believe me. hell, neither did i. "why are you fighting this so badly?"
my mouth went dry and my words came out quieter than i had intended, "what are you talking about...?"
"your friends aren't that important, huntley. you have your own life besides them, so let me be in it for gods sake." slickly, he caressed his hand up my arm and rested it on my shoulder. his words rang in my ear as i debated my next move.
fuck, the things i'd do to kiss him right now.
"i know you know i'm right." he spoke again, his voice smoother than butter.
"maybe..." i mumbled, my eyes darting down to his lips before returning up to his dark green orbs.
"just do it huntley, get over yourself and do it."
so i did.
my hands moulded onto his blazer and pulled him in, pressing my lips firmly against his. i was so tired of being without him, when he meant everything. one of my hands trailed into his hair and tugged aggressively, and lionel groaned in response. i smirked against his lips as they opened and i shoved my tongue in to push the kiss further. i leant onto my tip-toes and dragging my hand down his blazer and onto his waist.
"fuck." he moaned into my mouth as our tongues danced together and i made the decision this was the best kiss we have ever shared. i grinned at him, pulling our lips apart as i brought my hand out of his hair to swipe against my, now swollen, bottom lip.
"if nothing else works, at least we know we have that bit covered." lionel smirked at me while ruffling his hair back down.
i grinned in response, feeling the blush cloud my cheeks instantly. "i suppose so."
"so, huntley, now what?"
and then i pondered for multiple seconds, and i realised i didn't have an answer for him. i had no idea what was next for us. was this the past where i'd push him away and claim i couldn't do this? because i didn't want to play that part anymore.
"i'm not going to run." i stated, because i felt as though i needed to specify that.
"good to know." he smiled at me, and i couldn't help but smile back. "come with me." and he held out his hand, and of course i took it in mine without hesitation. he led me away from the open field and back into the forest until we eventually reached the familiar clearing.
he sat me down in his lap ontop of the tree log, and i wrapped my legs around his waist happily. "so, lets talk about your friends." and with his words, i no longer felt happy.
"i don't know what to say." i mumbled.
"listen, we don't have to tell them if you don't want. i mean, fuck, i'm not really comfortable with the whole school knowing i'm bent. only alex and my sister know." he said bluntly, and i laughed at his simpleness. he grinned back at me, obviously proud of himself for making me giggle.
"only freddie knows." i said, "oh, and my dad."
"ah, so i take it you don't want people to know either?"
i shook my head quickly "not yet."
"okay, then we'll keep it a secret." he nodded, wrapping his arms around my back and pulling me in for a hug.
my head nuzzled into his neck, "i do want to tell my friends though, about me being gay." i mumbled and i could tell my eyes were watering. there was no way i was about to cry in front of lionel...
"you can do that, huntley, they won't see you any differently i'm sure." he whispered back to me, bringing one of his hands up to my hair and stroking my head slowly.
i took deep breaths until the tears were no more, and then i comfortably pulled out of the hug.
"i'm sorry." i said.
"for what?"
"being confusing. telling you one thing and doing another, giving you mixed signals.. i must've been a headache." a sigh escaped my guilty lips and i couldn't help but feel like a jackass.
"it was all worth it in the end."
