Bakugou took a deep breath in, building up the courage to ring the doorbell to the apartment complex. He shifted the plastic bag he was holding to his other hand before ringing the doorbell. After a few seconds, Inko opened the door.
"Oh, Hi Katsuki. You don't look too good, is everything okay?" Inko greeted the teen and asked after seeing the dark circles under the blonde's slightly puffy eyes. It looked like he cried all night instead of going to sleep.
"I'm, fine Auntie, I uh, came to check on Izuku I umm, brought him his favorite ice cream and some chocolates too." Bakugou said as he raised the bag up for emphasis. "How is he? Can I see him?" Bakugou asked and frowned at the lady's saddened face.
"That's really sweet of you Katsuki but I think Izuku's too upset to talk to anyone right now. He hasn't left his room or eaten all day. He wouldn't even open the door for his friends when they came over earlier. Not even Rody could get him to come out." Inko told the boy causing Bakugou's shoulders to droop sadly as mumbled out a sad/quiet oh.
"I'll tell him that you stopped by though and I'm sure he will appreciate the gifts." Inko said. Bakugou smiled slightly and handed the bag over to the woman. He did a small bow before turning to walk away.
Inko was about to close the front door but stopped herself and called after the blonde. "Oh, Katsuki!" Inko called the teen making Bakugou stop and turn around to face her again.
"You played against Izuku during the skirmish, right?" Inko questioned the teen. Bakugou averted his gaze as he slowly rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah, I did." Bakugou responded.
"Did you happen to see who pitched the ball at Izuku?" Inko asked causing Bakugou's body to tense up. "He wouldn't tell me who did it even though I'm sure it was that Monoma boy. He always seemed to have it out for Izu." Inko said, mumbling the last part with slight disgust.
Bakugou felt his throat dry up as he listened to the women speak. He was too nervous to tell her the truth, worried about how she would react. But he also felt guilty since everything was his fault.
The blonde swallowed the lump in his throat before speaking. "I umm, I didn't see." Bakugou looked down at the ground and lied. Inko closed her eyes as she let out a small sigh. Bakugou's frown deepened as he clenched his fists together, mad at himself for being such a coward.
"Once I find out who broke my baby's fingers I'll give their parents a piece of my mind and then I'll loudly boo at them when it's their turn to bat next game." Inko said as she glared at nothing in particular.
Bakugou's heart ached hearing the woman speak. "They're broken?" Bakugou said in slight disbelief over this new piece of information. "Yeah... When he got looked at at the hospital yesterday the doctor said both his middle and ring finger on his right hand are broken and it'll take at least two months for it to heal completely. So he won't be able to play in the last game and I know he really wanted to." Inko sadly explained.
"So it really was that bad..." Bakugou muttered quietly as he began to hate himself even more for what he did. "Katsuki? Are you alright?" Inko asked the boy, her eyes were filled with concern when she saw the teen trembling.
"I gotta go." Bakugou told the woman before he quickly speed-walked away. Inko's eyes narrowed with worry after watching the teen rush off. She closed the door to the apartment and walked over to Izuku's room.
Inko gently knocked on the door with the back of her knuckles. "Izu sweetie, how are you feeling?" Inko gently asked the boy through the locked door but didn't receive a reply back.
"Katsuki came to visit. He got your favorite mint chocolate ice cream and there's a couple of other candies in here too." Inko said as she looked inside the plastic bag. "I'll put the ice cream in the freezer and leave the rest out here for you." Inko said as she took out the ice cream and bent down slightly to place the bag on the ground. Inko sadly frowned at the door before walking away.
