Carlton's phone was blowing up with both calls and messages from the guys asking where the two were. Most of them came from Stephen and Ethan who were desperately trying to find out if they were okay and safe.
The messages were ignored until Saylor and Sarah had finished their funeral for Ward. Carlton didn't want to overwhelm Saylor anymore than she already had been and he wanted to focus on making sure she was dealing as well as she possibly could given the circumstances.
That being said they were now pulling up at Singhs estate, Carlton in the drivers seat, Saylor in the passengers and the Pogues crammed into the back.
The Routledge girls leg bounced in anticipation the entire way there, she wasn't sure how she could face them knowing she had killed Adam and sent Ryan to his death.
Carlton brought the car to a stop and turned his attention to the very clearly anxious blonde beside him. "If it's too much you can stay in the car, they'll understand." He reassured her sincerely as he placed a comforting hand on her restless leg.
"No, I want to do this." Saylor replied whilst nodding to herself. "I need to do this."
She didn't want to walk out of their lives and she didn't want to miss out on the chance of saying goodbye. They were her family when she didn't have one, they all deserved closure.
Carlton sent her a smile before unbuckling his seatbelt. "Stay in the car. We won't be long." He told the group of teens in the back, his voice in the same harsh tone he had always used towards them.
Saylor let out a long sigh and hit her palms flat against her legs as if he was tapping them awake. Quite frankly she was forcing herself out the car, she knew she wanted to moved but her body was taking its time allowing it to happen. She blamed it on the now worn of pain medication but deep down she knew that wasn't the cause.
Her eyes met her twins as she turned to close the car door and it made her chest tighten. She was reuniting with people who worked against the Pogues, she was solidifying what they already knew... that she worked with Singh.
Mentally she noted that she had to explain everything to them soon. The look of betrayal and hurt behind her twins eyes hurt more than she could comprehend, but what hurt the most was that it was familiar.
Saylor Routledge was no stranger to betrayal. The only difference this time being she was the one holding the knife, not the one with it buried deep within her back.
Sure, she worked with Singh to help the Pogues. She was fully aware of that but the Pogues weren't so she wasn't angry that they looked at her with such hurt.
There was no denying the fact that it did sting how little faith they had in her. The fact that it was so easy for them to believe she had anything but their safety in mind. Still, she had learnt to accept it. It was the reason she walked away from the Pogues in the first place.
