Chapter 41 - Special Place

ALEX's POV

Anniversary namin ni Sam. Hindi ito ang exact date since pareho kaming busy. Sa wakas at may free time din kami kaso ilang araw lang. We wanted to go out of the country, kahit within Asia lang. Kaso nga wala kaming time, so we decided to go to one of our favorite places here in the Philippines. Baguio City. 3 days and 2 nights lang kami pu-pwede dahil nga hindi namin pwedeng maiwan ng matagal ang mga responsibilidad. Grown up problems.

Nag decide na lang kaming mag-commute, masyadong malayo ang Baguio para mag-drive pa kami. Kahit alternate, nakakapagod pa rin. We thought of hiring a driver pero in the end we decided not to. Mas masaya ang mag-commute.

At heto nga, nasa bus kami papuntang Baguio. Ang Babe ko? Heto tulog. Nakasanday pa sa akin at nakayakap. Hindi ako nakakatulog sa byahe. At hindi naman ako puyat, maaga kong tinapos ang paperwork sa office kaya nakapagpahinga ako ng maaga. Si Sam, wala pa yatang 2 hours ang itinulog nito. Doon na lang sya sa opisina nag-idlip kasi napakarami pa niyang tinapos kasi nga mawawala sya ng 3 araw. Gusto niya polido ang lahat. Lahat ba naman ng reports sa 4 na branches ng Superstore ni-review niya. Tapos fina-finalize ang pag-expand pa, magbubukas sila ng branch sa Tagaytay. Matalino talaga itong mahal ko at magaling. Ang dating 3 branches na naabutan niya, ngayon ay 4 na. At pang 5 niyang yung sa Tagaytay.

I'm so proud of her. Looking back when we first met more than 2 years ago, she turned her life around. I even under-estimated her then, kasi nga she was a clerk sa Local Government. She was not even getting a salary. Allowance lang kumbaga. And she was okay with that. Kahit sino naman syempre magtataka bakit nakuntento ito sa ganun. I only found out that she's really smart was the first time I went to her room and saw all her awards and medals. At syempre sa pagku-kwento na rin ng Mama niya. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in college, you would think na puro studies lang ang inatupag kasi nga she graduated with Latin Honors, but no...Not my Sam. She was an athlete, 3 ang sports na nilaro niya then. Tapos active pa sya sa school. I've heard she was the President of their Department's Council until 3rd year college, she just refused to run again nung 4th year for some odd reason. Hindi ko na inungkat pa yun.

Kaya nga I really did my best to convince her na sayang ang taglay na katalinuhan. I know naman she has valid reasons to live that way when I met her. She was just coping up with what happened to her in the past. But I'm glad she was able to pick herself up and nagkaron ulit sya ng pangarap sa buhay. She told me it was all because of me. Sabi ko naman wag ganun, she should do it for herself. To make herself better. And I was sincere when I told her that. Since I met her and found out things about her, all I want is for her to have the best things that she deserves.

Habang naiisip ko ang mga bagay na ito, nakatitig lang ako sa maamo at magandang mukha nito. She looks so peaceful at may konting ngiti pa sa mga labi niya kahit tulog na tulog sya. It just shows how happy and contented she is.

Then I pumasok na naman sa isip ko ang ilang linggo ko ng pinipilit huwag isipin. I haven't even mentioned that Marco is back. I can't get myself to tell her kasi alam ko mag-aalala ito. At kung iniisip niyo na bumalik ako kay Marco, hindi po. Am I considering it? Hindi rin po. But he is so determined to win me back. Liligawan daw ako nito ulit. Hindi ko naman masabi sa kanya na hindi pwede kasi I'm in a serious relationship. Tago nga yung sa amin ni Sam db? And I know this guy very well. He can be very persistent if he wanted to and he wouldn't stop until he has a very valid reason to do so. Pero hindi ko naman pwedeng sabihin dito that I am in a relationship with a girl. Ano na lang ang sasabihin nito, at isa pa, baka ipagkalat or sabihin sa family ko. Kaya I have no choice but to keep my relationship a secret at hayaan na lang si Marco sa gusto niya. Kainis pa itong si Mom! Botong boto kay Marco!

I don't know how to tell Sam about this. Eh yun ngang manager ng restaurant na dati kong pinapasukan sobrang selos na itong si Sam at madalas maging reason bakit kami nagkakatampuhan, ito pa kaya? Eh si Marco ito. Alam niya ang history namin ni Marco.
