Jennie stared at Irene with a bewildered look. "Can you please not do something so suddenly like that?"
Irene smiled. She may already be the empress right now, but she didn't want to adhere to all the formalities with the girl before her. Smiling happily, she pointed towards the hall.
"Just beat them all."
Jennie had no plans of becoming the strategist of the Mountain Kingdom before this.
Now that Irene had forced the position into her head, she had no choice but to accept.
Even though she had some skills, she didn't have any interest in the real position of a strategist. Leading her soldiers was already more than enough.
Unfortunately, Irene wanted her to have the official position.
With her being the strategist for the Mountain Kingdom, Irene knew that the military power of the kingdom would rise.
With that in mind, she chose to nominate Jennie when the time was right.
"You still didn't answer my question."
"Should you ask about that? I'm sure that this position suits you well."
Jennie didn't share the same opinion with Irene. When the riots happened this time, she didn't take full control of the whole army in the Mountain Kingdom.
She only handled the western part, bordering redorderingred the Kai Kingdom was handled by her subordinates.
Despite her extraordinary skills, she was still a human with limited capabilities.
There was no way she could do something like that and possibly know everything. She only made guesses, and some of them missed the mark, though it was still within a tolerable range.
With the urging from Irene, Jennie walked towards the hall. The officials were all looking towards the little girl.
She was wearing a veil, which made them unable to look at her face, but around her, there was an air of authority.
Seulgi smiled upon seeing Jennie. "Since the princess has come, you may start."
"Princess Jennie, please."
Jennie secretly rolled her eyes at her uncle's instruction. She would surely devise a plan to make her uncle tired again.
After deciding that internally, she looked towards the board on the table.
Her hand tapped the edge of the table with a calm expression.
"Please, sir."
Chan watched the match from the side. Since they were unconvinced of her ability, they wanted to test her.
The fight was between all of the military strategists of the Mountain Kingdom against one person, Jennie.
At first, he thought that it would be unfair, but upon careful examination, he no longer felt the same way.
While watching, General Tou took his cup of wine and offered it to Chan. "For your granddaughter to have her ability acknowledged by the world," he said with a smile.
Chan shook his head. "I don't think it will be that easy."
General Tou was startled. Had he spoken mistakenly?
He didn't think that there was anything wrong with the way he toasted.
"She will gain recognition among the officials, but how the world sees her is uncertain."
Jennie was famous for her perceived uselessness.
If she suddenly got such an important position usually occupied by Grandpa Chan, who would believe it?
They might think that she could only get that position because of her status as the princess and the niece of the current empress.
Among them, only those who were inside this room would know the real skill of that little girl.
She was not someone who could not do anything; it was the opposite.
She could do too much: leading wars, devising strategies, fighting, and even planning.
If one were to say something she could not do, then it would be playing zither well and similar things.
"If only she were born as a man," General Tou said slowly.
If Jennie were not a girl, there would be no need to hide her identity for so long and let the people only see her as someone who could not do anything.
They said she was only latching onto other people's thighs, while in truth, it was herself who did everything. What an irony.
Chan didn't say much. For him, it didn't matter whether Jennie was a girl or a boy.
All he cared about was the fact that she was his granddaughter, who was so excellent in military matters.
As the head of the Kim Family, he had seen the moment when the Kim family was at its peak.
Now that they have declined, what he hoped for the most was a person in their family with great military capability.
But General Tou reminded him of another thing.
With Jennie being a girl and her decision to cast away her identity as a boy, she would surely choose to live as an ordinary princess when everything ended.
And at that time, he wanted her to be happy.
While the two of them talked, the battle inside the hall came to a close with Jennie winning by an overwhelming difference.
If one were to say, she completely outmaneuvered the strategists of the Mountain Kingdom.
"Can you not be so ruthless? This is only a simulation," Seulgi sighed.
Jennie smirked. "I don't think there will be another way to do this better. The way I did it is already good enough."
The officials wanted to scream in frustration upon hearing Jennie's words.
"Good enough"?
She had crushed all of them to the point of no return. How could she say that this was only at that level?
With that battle, Jennie's ability was recognized by the officials, and no one voiced any more complaints.
"With this, I confer Jennie to be the military strategist of the Mountain Kingdom."
Jennie smiled slightly. It seemed that the time for her to reform the military of this kingdom had come.
She had seen them, and they were fairly weaker compared to her soldiers. They all needed to shape up.
"You have full control of the military," Irene added.
This declaration from Irene showed how much trust she had in Jennie.
Jennie was surprised by the favor, but she knew that the empress indeed trusted her, and she shouldn't misuse this chance.
Jennie bowed. "This subject-niece will do her best to build a powerful army."
With that, the training for the Mountain Kingdom army was rewritten.
Afterward, the soldiers called Jennie the "Queen of Hell Trainer," though only in secret since they didn't want to be subjected to even harsher training.
