After appointing a few new ministers, Jennie included, the ceremony ended, and they could return to their respective places.
With Seulgi being crowned as the new empress, the news quickly spread to the other empires.
This time, the people from the Mountain Kingdom no longer held the news back.
On the night of the ceremony, Jennie took a stroll in the garden. The whole process had caused her brain to overwork, and she needed some rest.
Taking a stroll in the garden was the perfect way to ease her messy mind.
While walking, a person came towards her with a smile.
"Empress, shouldn't you sleep in your quarters...?"
Irene grinned. "I sneaked out. Those maids are forcing me to wear a new dress again. They are trying the new models, and I'm tired, so I sneaked out."
Jennie's mouth twitched. Can't you do something normally?
Even if you don't like to wear it, you can directly tell the maids about it.
You're the empress, and you have full authority over them. This empress was truly peculiar.
"You should have told them off."
"I have, but they are still waiting by the side. Staying inside and being watched by them is annoying. Now that I'm the empress, the number of people following me and guarding me has increased."
Irene truly didn't like being confined. She was the kind of adventurous girl who loved freedom.
Staying in her room and doing her job of looking through piles of papers was hard for her. It would be easier for her to sneak outside and play around.
Jennie could start to feel the pain of those officials.
Now that she had become one of them, she would need the empress to look towards the war reports and strategies that she made.
This would truly make things more troublesome.
"When I'm making war reports, don't you have to look through them?" Jennie looked towards Irene with inquiring eyes.
Irene grinned. "You don't have to submit them to me. You're free to deploy them however you wish and all."
Jennie found it strange. Why would Irene choose to believe her to that extent?
They hadn't interacted that much, and the time they spent together was really limited.
With the power that Irene granted her, if she were to revolt, there would be nothing Irene could do.
"You trust me?"
"I can trust you, right?" Irene smiled.
That was a question that Jennie couldn't answer lightly. She didn't know whether she would stay here for the rest of her life, but she knew that she wanted to stay loyal.
Here, she doesn't need to face that annoying emperor and his schemes that always tried to pull her down.
"Yes, you can."
Irene smiled. She had the feeling that Jennie was not an ordinary girl, and even if Jennie chose to put her family above the kingdom, she wouldn't blame her.
Irene knew from Seulgi that Jennie was not one to easily accept others because of her life.
"Right, about that person from the other kingdom, if you have to face him, what are you going to do?"
Jennie was stumped by that question. That was a hard question for her to answer because she had someone she didn't want to hurt at all costs.
But if they truly had to face off in a battle, she needed to fight her best.
"I will still fight," Jennie answered after a slight pause.
That was her resolution. Irene smiled slightly; the decision was hard, but she couldn't do anything to help the little girl in front of her.
"Let's just hope that it won't happen."
Jennie nodded. She hoped that it wouldn't happen because she treasures both her family and her friends.
It won't be easy for her to decide to fight them because she knew very well that her heart couldn't bear it.
"What are your plans for now?" Irene changed the conversation.
Jennie looked towards the sky. "With the Kim Family moved from the Ming Kingdom, war will start again. This time it will be fiercer than before."
"What should our response be?"
"Wait," Jennie answered.
Irene nodded. She will do what the little girl said.
...
Outside Mountain Kingdom Capital
A certain man in the forest is running with all he's got. He was one of the spies that Jennie let in and didn't kill during her sweeping time.
He got the surprising news that the Kim Family separated themselves from the Ming Kingdom, and Seulgi had become the emperor. This news was really big.
He wanted to return as fast as possible to relay the message to his master.
When this news finally spreads, war will surely follow.
Suddenly, he sensed danger. With a forceful movement, he changed his direction to the side and took out his dagger.
The sound of metal clashing followed them.
The one who came, Yasha, had struck the other party and tackled him to the floor.
The spy was taken by surprise at the power this woman showed him. Before the other party could move, Lisa had put her dagger on his neck.
"Don't move."
"What do you want?"
If Yasha wanted to kill him, he would have done it before, but it seemed that he had another intention.
"Tell General Lisa that Jennie is the military strategist of the Mountain Kingdom."
The spy's eyes widened.
What Yasha told him was another big news that should have been concealed.
The news about Jennie hadn't come out because Jennie didn't allow it.
Before the war started, she didn't want anyone to know that she was a military strategist.
If they came to know about her power before the time came, they might make a plan to counter her. She didn't want that to happen.
On the other side, Jennie wanted to tell Lisa about her. Since Lisa had planted some of his spies here, Jennie let them stay here.
And this time, she specifically sent Yasha to tell the news to Lisa through his spy.
Yasha retracted her dagger and disappeared after saying that.
The spy stayed rooted for a few seconds before running again.
He needed to tell his master about what had happened here.
