Yoon's condition slowly stabilized. He looked better than he was when he first came. The first aid from General Dan proved to be useful.
"He will be fine, but we need to find a doctor before long," General Dan said to Ha-Nee.
Because of martial arts training, Yoon was relatively fine even with his body riddled with injury.
Even so, he still needed proper treatment for his wounds to prevent future problems. They needed to find a doctor as soon as possible.
Ha-Nee nodded. She didn't understand medicine, but she knew that the situation Yoon was in was terrible.
If they didn't find a doctor soon enough, it might threaten his life.
The thought of losing Yoon made Ha-Nee feel heavy. She didn't want to lose him; she still wanted to stay by his side and accompany him.
With that thought in her mind, she slowly fell asleep beside Yoon.
General Dan looked around, thinking of a way to escape. If they took Yoon for another beating, the boy wouldn't be able to survive.
If it was him, he could endure through a few rounds of beating since he was used to fighting.
But Yoon was a prince, and it was hard for him to endure it.
After a couple of hours, Yoon opened his eyes. He looked towards Ha-Nee by his side and caressed her hair gently.
He looked towards General Dan with a question.
"What happened?"
"You passed out because of the wound. Princess Ha-Nee is waiting for you," General Park answered.
He too had been sleeping, but the movement of Yoon caused him to wake up.
Yoon nodded and slowly got up from the bed. He picked up Ha-Nee and tucked her into the bed. He frowned a bit when his back started to ache.
"You shouldn't move so much, Your Highness," General Dan hurriedly stood up.
Yoon raised his hand to stop him. He looked towards Ha-Nee and sighed.
How can he let her experience all of this? She is just a girl.
Looking at Yoon still standing calmly despite his wound, General Dan backed up.
For that instant, he got the feeling that the one standing before him was not a mere abandoned prince, but a powerful prince.
He shook his head at that thought. How can he imagine things like that?
Time passed slowly, and Ha-Nee soon woke up.
"Yoon, are you alright?"
Yoon nodded. "Yeah, don't worry so much."
They were given some food, only enough to keep their stomachs from crying.
After another few hours, the men returned, but this time the one they took was Ha-Nee.
"You! Don't touch her!" Yoon wanted to stop them. The men kicked him, and he crouched on the floor, holding his stomach with his hand.
General Dan tried to help, but another one blocked his way. He clenched his fist as he watched them taking Ha-Nee out of the place.
On the other hand, Ha-Nee frantically tried to keep her calm. The men didn't bother tying her up since she was only a weak girl.
With a wave of the hand from the head guard, they dismissed. The man who interrogated Yoon before looked towards Ha-Nee.
"A girl worthy of being part of the imperial family," he said slowly. The calm Ha-Nee showed even when facing them was extraordinary. It made him remember those from the royal family.
Looking at the head guard, he opened his mouth again. "You will be in charge of interrogating her. I will be going with the guards."
"Yes, Your Majesty."
After he walked away, the head guard looked toward Ha-Nee. Ha-Nee could be considered a beauty, and with her mature demeanor, she did look charming.
Ha-Nee noticed his eyes, and her heart tightened, but she forced herself to keep calm. She stared back at him with challenge.
"Ck, ck, ck, how daring of you to look at me with those kinds of eyes? Are you already impatient, princess?"
Ha-Nee sneered. Forcing her fear down, she put on a calm face.
Deep down, she felt a bit grateful for the harsh treatment of the people in the imperial family. Because of them, she had learned how to act even better.
"Are you kidding? Who would want to be with a man like you who even dares to harm women during war?" Ha-Nee said harshly. No matter how afraid she was, she wouldn't show it to him.
The head guard sneered. He walks towards Ha-Nee, who is sitting calmly on the chair.
Ha-Nee noticed his movement and covertly took out her hairpin.
This was not the usual hairpin she used, but a special one she prepared in case she met an enemy. Before going to war, she had ground it to make the end sharp.
The head guard walks towards Ha-Nee. "You're gorgeous. I bet I will be having fun here."
When he stood real close to her, she stabbed the hairpin towards his chest.
Without the protective armor, his chest was open. The length of the hairpin was such that it reached the other party's heart.
"AH, how dare you!"
The head guard used his last strength to push Ha-Nee away. Because of the forceful movement, Ha-Nee collided with the wall.
Her head was spinning, and it hurt very much.
I can't pass out yet.
Ha-Nee tried to keep her eyes open and stared at the guard who was trying hard to stop the bleeding.
He's still alive.
Ha-Nee slowly stood up while enduring her pain and took the head guard's sword from the side. It was heavy, but she used all of her power to raise it and slashed down at him using her entire strength. That was the end of this headguard.
With her head partially working, Ha-Nee rummaged through the items on the table before finding a key.
Staggering, she walked towards the door and unlocked it.
"Yoon!" Ha-Nee hurriedly held the boy. Her head was bleeding, but she was still smiling proudly.
"We can escape now," she said weakly.
General Dan truly felt awe towards Ha-Nee. The girl's courage is truly something, and even in that situation, she dared to try assassinating the head guard.
Well, the method was something that he could never replicate, though. Crouching down, he put Ha-Nee on his back.
"Pardon me, Princess, but we need to get away quickly."
Ha-Nee nodded, her body felt heavy. Yoon quickly locked the door again and took the key with him. "Let's go."
The three of them soon slipped away.
