"I say we put a pickaxe in his head and the dead girl's and be done with it." Daryl suggested leaning against the RV.
It was ten minutes after the group found out that they not only had one potential walker in camp but two. Everyone was discussing what they should do with Jim but of course no one could come to an agreement.
"Is that what you'd want if it were you?" Shane wondered glaring at the redneck who was once again standing a little too close to Cali.
"Yeah, and I'd thank you while you did it."
"I hate to say it... I never thought I would... but maybe Daryl's right." Dale sheepishly spoke up.
"Jim's not a monster, Dale, or some rabid dog." Rick hissed at the old man.
"I'm not suggesting..."
"He's sick. A sick man. We start down that road, where do we draw the line?" Rick asked looking at everyone.
"Both Jim and Amy have to go." Cali cut in agreeing with Dale and Daryl, "They're a danger to everyone here. It sucks but there's nothing we can do to help them."
"The line's pretty clear." Daryl nodded at Cali before turning back to her father, "Zero tolerance for walkers, or them to be."
"What if we can get him help?" Rick continued hoping Cali would see things his way and be on his side. "I heard the C.D.C. was working on a cure."
"I heard that too." Shane sighed running a hand over his head. "Heard a lot of things before the world went to hell."
"What if the C.D.C. is still up and running?"
"Man, that is a stretch right there."
"Why? If there's any government left, any structure at all, they'd protect the C.D.C. at all costs, wouldn't they?" The Grimes man explained. "I think it's our best shot. Shelter, protection..."
"Okay, Rick, you want those things, all right?" Shane said looking his best friend in the eyes. "I do too, okay? Now if they exist, they're at the army base. Fort Benning."
"That's 100 miles in the opposite direction." Lori groaned.
"That is right. But it's away from the hot zone." The man nodded not sparing a single glance in her direction. He knew Lori was only disagreeing with his plan because she was mad at him. "Now listen to me. If that place is operational, it'll be heavily armed. We'd be safe there."
"The military were on the front lines of this thing. They got overrun. We've all seen that." Rick shook his head. "The C.D.C. is our best choice and Jim's only chance."
"You go looking for aspirin, do what you need to do. Someone needs to have some balls to take care of this damn problem!" Daryl exclaimed picking up an axe and heading straight for Jim who was resting against a tree.
"Hey hey hey!" Shane and Rick both yelled rushing after him with the others hot on their heels.
Rick gets to Daryl first and pulls his gun out on him. "We don't kill the living."
"That's funny coming from a man who just put a gun to my head."
"We may disagree on some things, not on this." Shane stated holding his own gun at Daryl. "You put it down. Go on."
Cali breathes a sigh of relief when Daryl puts the axe down and walks away. She didn't want her dad or Shane to shoot him just because he was wiling to do something they weren't.
The group silently watched as Rick led Jim into the RV with the help of Jacqui. As soon as Jim disappeared everyone got back to work. Cali watched her mom go with Carol to help the recent widow clean out her and Ed's tent. The teen decided to take this opportunity to talk to Shane.
Shane apparently had the same idea because as soon as she turned away from watching her mother she caught eyes with the Walsh man who nudged his head in the direction of the woods.
"Do you agree with my dad?" The brunette asked as soon as they were a safe distance away from camp.
"On some things but not everything." Shane sighed. "I agree with you that Amy and Jim are dangerous to keep around but we can't just kill Jim in the middle of camp."
"I know." Cali mumbled. "Everything is just so fucked up."
The Walsh man could tell that Cali was trying to put on a brave face for everyone but he could see the dark circles under her eyes. He knew she wasn't doing good after the attack last night.
"Are you alright Cal?" He questioned pulling the girl into his arms.
"No, but I have to be."
"I'm sorry I couldn't be there for you last night. I know you were really freaked out."
"Yeah, well that wasn't your fault. My mom won't let us anywhere near each other without causing a scene." Cali rolled her eyes in annoyance. "We need to just tell my dad before she starts putting lies in his head and makes our relationship worse than it is."
Shane's face visibly paled at the girl's request. He wasn't ready to tell Rick. As much as Rick annoyed Shane, he was still his best friend. He didn't know if he could live with Rick hating him.
"Cal..." He trailed off looking down at her.
"Don't tell me you don't want to be together anymore!" The brunette said moving out of his grasp and looking hurt.
"No! No! It's not that! I promise!" Shane rushed out grabbing her hands and pulling her back to him.
"Then what Shane?"
"I just don't think right now is the time to tell him with everything that's going on."
"There's never going to be a right time! No matter when we tell him he's going to be hurt. At least if we tell him sooner rather than later it won't hurt as much."
"I don't know Cal..."
"I can't believe this!" Cali shook her head in disbelief turning and beginning to walk away from him.
"Cali! Come on!" Shane shouts chasing after her. He manages to grab her arm but she immediately pulls away.
"Don't talk to me until you can finally man up and talk to my dad about us!" She spat before rushing away.
