Life on the island was easy.

Apart from being with Pogues for the last month, I haven't had any real issues. It was as though all of my problems had completely vanished. Life was simple here, life was easy. Just the way I liked it.

I hover over JJ as I watch him use a burnt stick to draw on some canvas he had found from an old shipwreck. A smirk appears on my face as I put two-and-two together, and realize that he was drawing the chicken we once talked about.

"You're quite the artist," I tell him, folding my arms across my exposed stomach.

"I think it's pretty damn good," He retorts, his eyes still on his artwork.

"For a Pogue," I tease, my smirk growing as I watch him turn around. A smirk eventually appears on his face too, once he sees the look on my face.

"I highly doubt you could do any better Princess," He says, turning back around again. "Don't you Kooks only buy art?"

"Occasionally," I say, squatting down next to him. "If you're that rich."

"Don't pretend like you aren't." He smoothes out some of the edges with his thumb. "Don't they call you Kook Princess for a reason?"

"That's Sarah," I chuckle. "We've been over this. And besides, I see it as my Dad's money. Not mine."

"I have no interest in this subject whatsoever," He tells me teasingly, "Come help me hang this up."

JJ has surprisingly been the one to consider me part of the group without a second thought. Apart from Sarah, obviously. But for some reason, he's the one that I have gotten closest with since living here. JJ's not as bad as he made him out to be.

We both stand, and I take the other side of the flag once he instructs me to do so. It was always windy here, so the flag was definitely a must. It also symbolized that this place was ours.

This was something that JJ was really proud of. When we found it a little over a month ago, home wasn't thought of once. It welcomed us in with open arms. This place was absolutely perfect. No responsibilities, no parents, no rules, and most importantly, no Rafe.

"What do you think Princess?" JJ shouts from the top of a slanted tree.

"I think it's officially Poguelandia," I shout back.

He louts out a shout of happiness, a huge smile on his face as he lifts one arm up in the air. Kiara joins us, a scream leaving her lips as well.

"You did it J!" She shouts at him. "It's perfect!"

We both exchange a look with one another, not saying anything. I take that as my cue to walk away, back to where Sarah was sitting in the tree line.

Kiara and Pope were the two that I still haven't been able to crack. Not that I particularly want to be besties with Kiara anyway. But, Pope has a hatred for Rafe that will always hang around. Rightfully so. And because I was once associated with him, that means I'm not Pope's favorite person right now either.

"Hey," Sarah says, once I sit down. She was weaving a basket, out of some kind of thin bark. She was pealing it for hours now. "Your freckles are out."

I smile at her, "So are yours."

"I need a break," She says, dropping the half-woven basket. She stands, stretching her entire body for probably the first time today. Her cream colored sweatpants that she once wore on the ship were rolled up. The humidity here was a bitch. Most days it was completely intolerable. But I could live with incredibly hot weather over drama at home any day. "Do you see that?"
