TW: Mention of abuse.

This is something along the lines of Corrine's house.

I didn't realize you had to put so much effort in weddings.

You have to think of what flowers, dinner, venue, what kind of dress you want, bridesmaid dresses - the list goes on and on.

Who knew that getting married could be so stressful?

I know for a fact I'd never want to be a wedding planner. This shit sucks. There is so much detail and organization that coincides with this. It literally is so stressful, and I'm not even the bride.

We had just dropped off the money at the country club to reserve outdoor space. Maggie wanted the wedding to be held outside, preferably in front of the marsh, if the weather cooperated.

The club informed us that they planned to decorate the trees with string lights, as they had done for Midsummer's. Maggie strictly said that it has to be decorated differently then Midsummer's, she doesn't want it to be a replica. Which I completely understand, I would want my wedding to be unique too.

"I was thinking of going into town tomorrow to start looking for a dress," Maggie pulls me out of my thoughts. She glances over at me when I don't respond right away. I nod slowly, she keeps her hand on the wheel as she looks over at me again. "Do you want to come?"

"Yeah," I say truthfully. Despite the wedding being overwhelming, I do want to help. I don't know why Maggie's mom and sister aren't helping more, it would take a lot off her shoulders. "Do you know what kind of dress you want? We've looked through so many magazines."

She chuckles, "I think so. A bit poofy, but not too much. Lace maybe too? But only on the top you know?" Not really.

"Are you going to get a long sleeve one?" I ask.

"Probably, late September will be cold."

The wedding was already a month away, which is crazy to say. I would've figured she'd wait until Spring or something for their wedding. But no, once he proposed she wanted the wedding as soon as possible.

"You want to stop and get a smoothie quick? I've been craving one ever since you showed me it," She says.

"Yeah that sounds good," I say.

Maggie pulls into one of the slightly slanted parking spots. We both get out of her SUV and head towards the white, trendy-looking building.

The door to the place swings open just as I grab the handle. I move my head at the last second to avoid being hit in the face. And when I see the familiar blonde head of hair, my stomach sinks a little.

"Corrine," Sarah says, she shifts from foot to foot. "Sorry, I didn't realize someone was on the other side."

"You're good," I say shortly.

The silence was loud between the three of us. What could I have possibly said to keep the conversation going? How's your boyfriend doing in jail? How are your new Pogue friends? This was really awkward, but maybe it would've been more awkward to not talk.

"Hi Maggie," Sarah smiles at her. I wasn't sure if they've ever officially met, maybe briefly in passing. "I heard you're getting married."

"Yes, the wedding's in a month," Maggie says excitedly. "We're sending out the save the dates soon, tomorrow probably."

"That's awesome, I'm really happy for you," Sarah's eyes flash over to me. The last time we talked, she knew I didn't like Maggie. Things have significantly changed since then.
